Our experience at Children's House has been exceptional. The teachers are truly invested into our daughter’s education and her growth in all realms. Adjustments are made as needed to meet the needs of the student. Small class sizes and leveled learning has enabled our daughter to gain confidence in her learning abilities. Due to their pre-primary program our daughter was able to get in at the age of 3! I love the transparency and the love you feel as soon as you walk in. The children's house is part of our family now. The school feels full of love and inviting. Last but not least, the school holds a level of cleanliness like no other. Thank you Children's House, I wish you nothing but the best as you provide the best for our children.
This is a great school with phenomenal teachers. The type of people that go above and beyond to make sure your child is not just doing well, but thriving. The staff truly care about their students as people and strive to go above and beyond. The smaller class sizes promote more 1 on 1 learning and multi-age classrooms provide learners with a diverse set of peers to learn from and grow with academically, socially, and emotionally. Our children especially enjoy the hybrid learning approach which blends Montessori with traditional schooling methods, allowing them to take a more hands on approach with their lessons.
I have to say this is the absolute best school in the area. After having my son, I placed him in a Christian private school, where he was struggling with academics. When Covid hit, I homeschooled for a while and that is where I really got to see his strengths and weaknesses. With public school not being a first choice preference, I found The Children’s House. I went in for a tour and spoke with Mrs. Julie Harper and she was willing to give it a trial run with my son and see if they could get him where he needed to be. My son went backwards in grades into Mrs. Harper’s class, to learn the ins and outs of Montessori. He was able to skip a grade and jump up into Mrs. Pederson’s class of grade 1&2 the following year. He is on his second year with her and I have seen him flourish so much! During this journey we learned my son does have a learning disability and struggles with reading and spelling. With the help of his teachers, he now comes home so elated because he is getting 100’s on his tests! He is reading chapter books and the confidence he has in himself is priceless!!! I’m not in any way stating that this school is for learning disabilities or that it’s for every child that struggles. Our case was truly rare. But I will say these teachers CARE so so much and if it’s possible, they will do all they can to help your child reach their academic goals. Unfortunately, 3rd grade will be too advanced for my child and we knew this time would come. We have all prepared ourselves for a while now, but we are heartbroken over it nonetheless. I’m absolutely so appreciative and grateful for every single building block they have applied to the foundation of my sons education. I would recommend this school to anyone that wants their child to not only get an education, but to learn responsibility, respect, kindness, manners and how to treat others. I honestly don’t think my son would be as well rounded as he is if it wasn’t for having such a caring team to surround him when he is away from home. I can not stress enough how amazing everyone is at The Childrens House. I don’t even want to think about the end of year. We will miss them all beyond words. Choose this school for your little one. It’ll be the best decision you have ever made.
Our two little boys go to Children’s House and they love it and we love it. They’re learning so much and having fun too. It’s been a nurturing, well rounded and enriching environment for us. Communication with teachers and directors is easy and helpful. I’m so grateful we could get in!
Do not take the other reviews heartily, this school is amazing. My daughter has been going for over 2 years now and is graduating into 1st grade this year, 2014. They have computer classes, yoga, Spanish, play time, exercise time and individual based approaches. They put on productions, let parents come eat lunch with their child, offer many options for summer school and are very active in your child's progress. The phone at times may not be answered because the school is focused on the children. The machine is always checked and calls are always returned if need be. The teachers are willing to give their personal cell phone numbers text/call for any issue, concern or reason. They celebrate holidays and the "God" they say grace about is not affiliated with Jesus or the Catholic bible. It celebrates wisdom, nature and spirituality. I appreciate this academy so very much, and hope that the school continues to grow the way they help our children grow. I am a proud parent of a child, that attends this fantastic Montessori Academy. I recommend all parents and children to attend this wonderful academy. After all, children are the future leaders.
Both of my daughters attend the Children's House for the second year and there is no need to make any change. My girls DO LIKE to go to schooI and that is what counts. I personally admire the way the teachers organize their work. Children are often divided into smaller groups or work individually. Whenever I walk into the building, it is quiet, children are concetrated - no running or screaming. The child's development is very closely monitored and reported. Plus I often receive the feedback while picking up my children. Teachers are warm and passionate, respecting the children. My daughters did not speak any English as we are foreigners at the beginning of the school year. However they were able to communicate rather well around Christmas. And one more plus - the community - as it is a small school I know all teachers, all children and all parents.
My child went there for a year. The owner, in general, was quite rude. Would glare at us when we walked in, never friendly disposition. Also, though they claim to not be religion-oriented, they started saying "grace" at lunchtime and one of the part time teachers was having discussions about "god" with my child. This was very upsetting as if I wanted her in this environment I would have chosen another institution. I thought this was not religion based.
I highly recommend this school!
