The new 23,000 square foot facility opened for operation in January 2008. It is only the second dome school structure of its kind in Florida.
This architecturally unique building is designed to house 240 elementary students (KG-5th grade) within five, interconnected monolithic domes. The facility includes administrative offices, classrooms, a media center, teacher resource library, an all purpose room/cafeteria, and a science lab. The property also includes a playground and a playing field.
The dome structure of the school is able to withstand hurricane force winds, be very efficient and be environmentally friendly.
The mission statement for the Children's Reading Center Charter School is to ensure that all of its children learn at high levels by creating a solid foundation in literacy.
