A page dedicated to the re-election of City Law Director, Sherri Rutherford
Sherri Rutherford was elected Law Director in 2012. During that time she has implemented law enforcement training and case law updates. Her office sponsored special training in Drug Recognition for prosecutors and judges and Cops In Court for law enforcement officers. The office cooperated in development of the heroin community partnership program which is currently seeking a pilot program utilizing state grants. The office has worked extensively with city officials and departments to render advisory opinions. In addition, the office works closely with the multiple branches of law enforcement.
She has spent her entire legal career prosecuting felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, having worked for both the Ross County Prosecutor and Chillicothe Law Director for the past seventeen years. As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney she worked to establish the local branch of T.R.I.A.D. and filed for 501( c)(3) non-profit status for the local S.A.L.T. Council. She has been an adjunct professor at Ohio University teaching in the Law Enforcement Technology program. Prior to attending law school Sherri taught Language Arts and Reading for Chillicothe City Schools and worked at Mead Paper.
She and her husband, Ronnie, have deep roots in the community. They been married for thirty one years and have three sons: Cody, a chef, Chase, a Navy veteran and law school student, and Clay, a deputy sheriff. They have three grandchildren.
When re-elected, Sherri intends to continue her focus on OVI prosecution and training in Municipal Court. She looks forward to collaborating with the Municipal Court to help establish a Drug Court for alternative prosecution and recovery services for drug offenses.
