My 78 year old mother has been paying the sanitation bill for my grandparents, in the home she grew up in for the last 20 plus years. She has written checks in her name for many years, at least 10, since my grandmother passed. Today she wanted to help the city by having just a name change made on the account. The city did eventually waive the $55 fee, but says she will have to pay the $30 deposit. On the same account she’s paid for over 20 years. Who are these people that couldn’t waive the fee for someone on a fixed income? I told the supervisor I might check in to legal action and her response was well we can just close the account and start all over with a new account. This isn’t over.
Went to get a permit for a storm shelter that is to be installed in a week. Had paperwork to take home and fill out. No signs on the door regarding closing early. Only sign was in regards to being closed on Memorial Day Monday. Went back at 4:40pm to drop the paperwork and the place was dark and locked. Signage said they would be open until 5pm. I am TDY Monday through Friday and the shelter will be installed the following Monday with or without this permit!!!
I have been calling for two and one half HOURS, and I get no response. I called the PD and they said there was someone there because she had called and the phone was answered. They are being paid too much if they are not capable of answering the phone.
I also have been trying to get ahold of City Hall by that number. There is no answer! It just rings and rings and rings.
The City of Choctaw would be served better with new employees in city hall.
