A standard pediatric primary office in 2023. Only thing keeping us here is the access to all of chop in a speedy manner if needed. Some of the best specialists on the planet. However I would be lying by ommision if I didn't write that as a first time parent of a boy who is close to turning two, I feel strongly there is a lot to be desired. I assume just about every pediatric office is this way now, but it feels like it's a corporate setting and not the doctor that is taking care of, and cares about my son. We have already cycled through the better part of 6-8 doctors, if I literally bumped into any of them while holding my son their patient in the grocery store, they wouldn't recognize us nor us Him/Her. Also the diagnosing/treating of any illness or symptoms is only handled in a textbook fashion, regardless if you happen to be in the gray area. They process of elimination medicines and on to the next child. We Wife&I have had to ask on out own questions about things that I would have assumed was their job to discuss. I do not want to attribute a lack of caring, because it's the set up of the process that creates the surprisingly impersonal nature of the relationship between whichever doctor present the day of my sons appt, and my son as well as with usWife&I. I'd be remissfull in my own right if I didn't say that it in my lifetime my own primary doctor owned his own business, and was amazing because he truly wanted to make sure we were healthy, and oh I don't know, was allowed to practice medicine and truly be a doctor from diagnosing things, to ordering extra tests when an illness is not just black and white and exists in the gray ---> whereas in 2023, these doctors have bosses that question anytime they go against the grain in the smallest way, and ya know --> actually be a doctor because the higher ups are worried about insurance and their board. My son had a Febrile Seizure and when we called to schedule a visit, they literally said there is no need on the phone--> so we directly called the CHOP specialist Neurologist office to have him looked at and for peace of mind. Thankfully we did as the specialist gave us the positive news nothing was damaged, however in case of any future seizure she the Dr. Prescribed a medicine to administer in case the seizure lasts too long. As the first over 3&1/2 minutes. If you're still reading I want you to know I have actually had a positive response to most of my visits here, I just want to be clear on what is lacking, and I assume it's lacking at any practice that isn't a single private pediatrician, which if there is one within 30 miles, I can't find them--> so please message me the info.
Update: the office contacted me a day later to schedule the appointment for me. I updated my rating to 4 stars. I have been trying to call to schedule an ENT appointment for the last few days but each time I called I hit the same wall. 10-minute hold music, 1-minute ringtone, and then the call ended in busy tone. That happened each and every time of my last 15 calls. Not even a chance to leave a message. Are all the scheduling coordinators on vacation now?
Love the atmosphere of this location. Definitely a great place for pediatric ophthalmology. The staff members are very professional and supportive. Walk us through the entire process. My child was happy with the check up.
Cheaters. Worst experience. We scheduled an appointment with specific ENT doctor but without informing us they changed the appointment with another ENT specialist. Also we did an audiology outside of CHOPs just 2months ago before visiting CHOP but we were forced to do one more audiology test before meeting ENT. Unnecessary expense. I don’t recommend this facility at all
After every visit they send an email requesting feedback. But what they do with the feedback is non existent. Don't ask for feedback if you can't resolve the problems. As others have said, the scheduling process for this location is horrendous. Whoever is in charge of the Admin team for this office probably needs to be replaced. Nobody returns phone calls. They tell you to leave a voicemail. The whole process is a joke. If you call main campus, they have no clue how to handle this location. Customer service is every team members responsibility.
Excellent facility & staff! Their safety protocols were great - from being able to fill out paperwork online to the check in process was a smooth & easy process. We saw Dr. Kolon in Urology & his PA. They, along with the nurse who took my child's vitals, were wonderful. I felt confident & well informed as I left. I drove 50 minutes to get to the center & would do it again if needed.
Dr. Ziplow was wonderful. Prompt and precise with his findings put our minds to rest instantly. Front desk is efficient. No wait time at this facility. Highly recommend!
Dr. Chadehumbe has shifted our journey in the world of autism. She has changed my son’s life by giving authentic feedback, suggestions in resources, and data that can help him to thrive. She was diligent in ruling out things, and is beyond thorough with her delivery. She makes sure to check off many boxes to provide the best care for your child.
I wish I could give this place a better rating but their scheduling is horrendous. My son had chronic ear infections so we went to this CHOP facility to get him checked out. Appointment times mean nothing. They straight up tell you be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes. Why are they over-scheduling to the point where people have to wait at least 45 minutes past their appointment time just to get in a room? We called more recently to make another appointment and they were only taking appointments 3 months out. We couldn’t wait that long. My son needed urgent attention. We wound up going to Becker ENT and they got him in, did all ore-op testing, and surgery scheduled super quick.
DO NOT GO HERE!! Please, do not. I see other people posted issues with billing. They knew my insurance information when I booked Aetna— common!!; the doctor I saw at their NJ location was In Network, but they billed my daughter’s ultrasound performed and read in NJ from their Philadelphia provider number???— which is out of network!! CHOP has an in network provider number for the NJ location where I was seen but according to their customer service, it’s their policy to bill “labs” my daughter’s ultrasound, read in NJ under their main campus provider number. Because of my large out-of-network deductible like everyone, I am on the hook for $4000. CHOP's "Billing" line is a JOKE they don't even claim to be the actual billing department, despite theirs is the Billing phone number CHOP gives -- they are a "customer service" call center and you cannot speak to the actual billing professionals, so even just getting this information took me HOURS between calls and long holds with Aetna and CHOP. With exception of the third Customer Service rep I spoke to who was a godsend, no one had any clue what was going on. One CHOP rep very rudely and indignantly even told me that the claim wasn't processed out of network, even though we were each looking at the exact same EOB and it clearly stated out-of-network. It was beyond frustrating.
