The Parish Family of Christ Episcopal Church, a totally inclusive and rapidly growing Parish in the Diocese of New York, centers its spiritual, education and social life around its weekly Eucharist, celebrated at 10 AM on Sunday mornings.
Founded in 1849, the property was owned and given by John Suffern to have an Episcopal Church presence in the town. Currently, the Church is the oldest extant public building in Suffern. Prior to being owned by John and Sarah Suffern, it was part of the camp of General Rochambeaeu's, George Washington's French supporter and Commander of the French Armies during the Revolutionary War.
Today, growing out of Christ's Church's theology that Christ is all to all, we have a Thrift Store run by volunteers that provides clothing, furniture and household items inexpensively to those in need. Truly needy folks will never be turned away until their basic needs are met. Additionally, we have a very active Soup Kitchen, the only seven-day-a-week charitable kitchen in Rockland County. There are four meetings each week of Alcoholics Anonymous, three of which are in Spanish. We collect food and supplies for the Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge, a no-kill shelter as part of our Animal Ministry. We also schedule English as Second Language Classes as well as Senior Computer Classes.
