Chrysalides House is a new art school and gallery in Waterloo.
Our Laurelwood location features an art studio, printmaking and clay studio and creative play lounge.
We offer services such as children's weekly art classes in all media, holiday camps and birthday parties.
There is a graphic novel class just for teens and adults weekly open studios, printmaking, and other workshops.
The gallery features local artists that practice in a variety of media and is an excellent place to visit for that one of a kind gift.
We also sell high quality art supplies for artists of all ages and have an etching press and kiln rental available to local artists.
Online registration is available and online shopping is on it's way including an extensive art supply store.

We are pleased to offer ongoing weekly fine art classes and open studios for aspiring artists of all ages, with a focus on in-depth fine art education, encounters with art history in a relaxing and inspiring space.
All lead instructors have specialized in fine art and focus on encouraging confidence, imagination and skill building in an atmosphere of positivity and inclusiveness.
All teachers and volunteers have had a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING
~Weekly Classes
Children's weekly fine art classes are available for kids 5-12 and 13-17 with a focus on in-depth fine art education, encounters with art history in a relaxing and inspiring space and an inclusive environment.
Media includes mixed media including painting, drawing, printmaking, clay and creative movement. Various styles and genres of art are explored with the flexibility of catering to each students interests and strengths.
Classes can be booked individually or as a term package.
Current kids classes available:
Wednesday evening art class 6-7:30pm
Thursday evening art class 6-8pm
Saturday 3pm-5pm
Sunday afternoon art class 2pm-3:30pm
Homeschooler's daytime classes at 1-2:30pm
Teen's Graphic Novel Class from 12- 2pm, for Tween/teens that are into character drawing and would like to work on making their own comics/ books/ graphic novels.
This includes an end of term Art Opening Exhibition Party for friends and family followed by a one week student exhibition displaying the students artwork in our gallery.
~ After school classes
Chrysalides House is less than a 5 minute walk from Abraham Public School and a 9 minute walk from St.Nicholas Catholic School.
We offer an after school art class for students old enough to walk to our facility on their own.
Daily 3:00pm-5:30pm September to June

~ CAMPS
Fine Art Camp for ages 5-12 is available full days with extended care available. Our camp features small group sizes and a wide variety of art instruction including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture with an addition of indoor and outdoor creative play. Our highly qualified teachers have specialized in fine art and focus on encouraging confidence, imagination and skill building in a atmosphere of positivity and inclusiveness. Lunch/Food: Campers must bring their own peanut-free lunches and snacks that require no refrigeration and/or heating. Please ensure that your children have enough food for two snacks and a lunch.
~ P.A. Day camp $40/day or $50/day extended care
~March Break and Summer Camps
Cost: $200/week 9am-4pm, $225/week with extended care 8:30am-5:30pm
Discounted weeks for holiday Mondays.
~ Christmas Break Camp
Cost: $50/day or $55 with extended care 8:30am-5:30pm

ADULT PROGRAMMING
~ Weekly Open Studio
We hold a weekly 2 hour open studio for adults. Come have some coffee or tea, meet some new friends, peruse our art library and explore your artistic side while receiving guidance by working artists as needed. No experience necessary!
If you have a specific project or goal in mind, we can customize an art material package at a very reasonable one time price for you.
Open studio participants get a 25% discount on all art supplies purchased though us.
Cost: $15 Bring your own materials or $30 all materials covered Inc HST
(You can try new materials every time!)
For Each term booked Including HST:
Term 1 September to December = 15 Open studios Excluding Materials =$190
Term 2 January to June = 25 Open studios Excluding Materials = $350

~ Printmaking Workshops
We have a large 3' x 5' etching press in our printmaking studio and offer a 3 hour printmaking workshop.
Participants with come away with several monotype prints suitable for framing.
Cost: $60 including supplies.
ALL INCLUSIVE ART BIRTHDAY PARTIES!
We do ALL the work!
(Isn't that nice for a change?)
Both kids and adults parties available!
We provide face painting, balloons, decorations, pizza, cupcakes, juice & snacks.
The 2 hour party consists of:
An organized art activity (masks and puppets), face painting, eating time, present time and if there is still time left over, a chance to play in our creative lounge and entertain each other with our puppet theatre.
(It's always a hit...lol)

We are happy to rent our our facilities to artists in the area who might be looking for a place to work.
We have a studio room with lots of table space, a kiln available for clay firing and a 2' x 5' etching press available in our printmaking studio.
