Potrero Field:
Potrero Field is located next to the Rec Center on Oxnard Street. The two multi-use fields are available for soccer, flag football, Ultimate and more. Dolphin Passport members may check-out equipment from the Recreation Center for use on Potrero Field or in the Rec Center. Certain types of equipment may only be used either in the Rec Center or on Potrero Field. Please see a Campus Recreation staff member for details.

Informal (Open) Rec:
The Informal Recreation program provides an outlet for the University community to participate in a variety of sports. Opportunities are provided for individuals to participate at their leisure whether it is to just shoot some hoops, play in a small pickup game or work on skill development of a sport. The campus recreation areas have specified hours that are designed for informal (open) play.

Instructional Programs:
The instructional programs offered by Campus Recreation provide learning opportunities for participants in such a way as to improve their skills and knowledge in order to enhance enjoyment relevant to sports participation. Clinics, workshops and skill sessions are used towards achieving this goal. Examples of instructional programs may include dance, yoga, martial arts, golf, Ultimate Frisbee, tennis and SCUBA Diving.

Intramural Sports Program:
Schedule- www.imleagues.com/CSUCI
The Intramural Sports Program provides all students with an opportunity to participate in organized sporting events, take part in various leisure activities and eventually gain access to the competitive sports club arena with one the finest and fastest growing sports club programs in the CSU system. This participation is governed only by the students’ time and interest. In addition to providing activities, equipment and facilities for students, the program also provides the same amenities for faculty and staff members who have obtained Dolphin Passport Memberships. Ability is not important; all a person needs is an interest in the activity and the desire to have fun participating.

Outdoor Adventures:
Outdoor Adventures is a program committed to bring you a challenge. Whether it be mentally or physically, our classes and trips are bound to push you to your limits! We utilize natures resources, and experienced leaders to provide you with the best experience possible! Check out our dates for upcoming events. We hope to see you soon!

Waterfront:
The CI Waterfront Program at Channel Islands Harbor offers various instructional and safety classes in kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and rowing. These programs may be instructional, recreational or competitive in nature to promote and encourage recreation to all campus and community members. The program is dedicated to promoting boating safety and education, and is partially supported through funding from the California Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW). The DBW funds boating facilities and boating safety education, and supports boating law enforcement in California. A portion of the equipment at the waterfront is provided by the DBW to enhance and teach boating safety education in California.

Sports Clubs:
The strength of the sports club program relies solely on the students. A sports club is a group of students voluntarily organized for the purpose of furthering their common interests in an activity through participation and/or competition. Interests may be competitive, recreational, instructional or a combination of these. Clubs may represent the University in intraclub competition or conduct interclub activities such as practice, instruction, and social and tournament play. Sports clubs are designed to be a learning experience for the members through their involvement in leadership, sportsmanship, fundraising, public relations, organization, administration, budgeting, marketing, management and scheduling, as well as the development of physical skills in the particular sport. Involvement in a group and team situation helps enhance the student's overall education. Clubs may vary in focus and programming, even year to year, since the members are active participants in the leadership, responsibility and decision-making processes of the clubs' activities. All sports clubs must be "official" in order to be eligible for promotion, facility use and financial assistance at CI. Please contact the coordinator of Recreation Sports, Nathan Avery, at (805) 437-8902 or [email protected] if you have questions about starting a sports club.
