Citrus County Fire Rescue Station 18

We had a situation yesterday evening that required help from Citrus County EMTs..The call to 911 was handled very efficiently and professionally and the two EMTs responding from Station 18 arrived in less than 10 minutes and were able to successfully assist my wife who had fallen and was not able to get up. This was another example of the professionalism of our County FIre Rescue teams.

I have unfortunately I had to call 911 a few times in the last few years most recently being yesterday, June 8, 2023. The responders came from the Homosassa fire station and although I didn’t get their names I just wanted to thank them for coming so promptly, and being very professional. They were very comforting to my husband and myself, and were able to convince him gently but firmly that he needed to go to the hospital even though of course he did not want to. I am not sure if I had the presence of mind to thank them, so I wanted to do so publicly. I did not see any phone number for that particular office, so I thought maybe the review would be helpful. Four people came out. There were three men and a woman, and they were all very attentive and made what could’ve been a really horrible experience more bearable, so thank you all, EMTs, for your dedication and your kindness, in very stressful situations.

*** update, I did email the Citrus county fire chief & his communication was impeccable. He was patient and kind and assured me he would take care of this. I felt like I was finally heard.We called an ambulance for my senior mother who was having a mental health crisis. The EMTs that showed up were useless. One was a women who looked like a deer in headlights and the other a newbie who had a very lackadaisical attitude towards our emergency. This was the only way to save my mom is her being taken by ambulance. The EMT would NOT do his job. He acted as though it was his gas money for the trip in the rig and his insurance. I hope that one day he experiences the same anxiety I had that day and continue to have times million.. EMTs are supposed to be compassionate, have empathy of some sort. I have never seen such disregard for a human life in all my years. Absolute disgrace. When we lose her and I'm sure it's coming, he will be partly to blame. He will be judged with no forgiveness. I should sue this place and this man should never be let to do this line of work. Shameless is what he is.

The fire truck driver that I passed by about a year ago is very considerate while driving. He’s probably the only considerate person that I’ve seen in this county during the near decade that I’ve lived here.
