Absolutely stunning building. This was one of my favourite places to visit in San Francisco. As a Londoner, I can’t stop making the analogy with Saint Paul cathedral because of the Dome and its decorations. I enjoyed visiting the mayor’s office, the main hall, and the small museum which has the old money/gold vault. If you’re lucky you might come across a wedding ceremony.
If you've lived in the Bay long enough, you might find yourself attending a wedding at city hall. It's picturesque, it's got that depth of field when you're taking photos, and now, they finally cleaned up the front area so you don't feel like you're only a few blocks down from the Tenderloin. For parking, it's just a block down, next to the children's park that was built after they cleared the area of homeless. During the winters, they do a Christmas themed light decoration at night as part of a promo for San Francisco. Not a bad place to stop by just before Christmas.
When I came to the city and checked into my hotel, little did I know that evening would be the clearest I have witnessed out of my windows. Enjoy the pictures of City Hall from above the city floor.
Very nice place to visit. I enjoyed this architecture jewel, is amazing, elegant and a very concurred place for photo sessions. All place is simply delicate, elegant, imposing and much more, if you visit San Francisco, this is a MUST, and its free.
Obsessseeeedddd with City hall for weddings and engagement photos. Okay a few helpful tips: 1. Book early! Go to the website and lock down your date. 2. Try grabbing the earliest or last spot of the day - it usually means you don’t have to fight the crowds for photos. 3. Expect crowds. But trust that your photographer will help navigate the space. 4. This is a public space - anyone can come in! No need to book time for photos.
Loved capturing our couples civil wedding here at SF City Hall. As photographers, this is such a beautiful place for photos and it's just breathtaking inside!
Was attending one of my friends wedding ceremony there and the city hall was really epic and the pictures taken there were so beautiful too!
Good architecture, like all domed government buildings. They also put on lights for different holidays and celebrations. Not sure what red and white means.
Very nice place. Lots of couples were married here and took wedding pictures. Nearby streets are not very safe and the homeless tents are only one block away. That is why I deducted one star. Hopefully San Francisco city government can have a solution to build a homeless shelter center somewhere far away from the central San Francisco.
I love City Hall. It is a beautiful building that they did a marvelous job restoring after the ‘89 earthquake. People travel from all over the world just to get married here. And yes - the building is taller than the nation’s Capitol because there’s no law against city buildings being taller, just state Capitols. Because we are 100% that petty.
