An arts program that not only includes dedicated arts classes in visual arts, music, drama, and theater, but uses the arts in the classroom to make learning accessible and to help students express their learning and understanding.
A project approach to learning in which students and teachers develop guiding questions, spend a significant amount of time researching and answering that question, and then find effective ways to present their learning. Through this approach students dig deeper and develop critical thinking skills.
A focus on literacy and develop the love and appreciation of reading-starting from the first days of Kindergarten.
Parent-School Partnership where parents and educators work collaboratively, assuming the best intentions of each other, to build a rich, vibrant learning community. This includes a family volunteer commitment of 40 hours per year and A Board of Directors that includes parents, teachers and students.
A play-based kindergarten which engages students in the world of school, acclimates them to the social world of school, and begins to develop a love of learning while building numeracy and literacy skills through play.

The mission of City Neighbors Charter School is to provide an extraordinary public school education with high academic achievement for all students. Our ultimate goal for our school is that through Project Based Learning, Arts Integration, parental involvement and community outreach, the students leave enlivened, with deep awareness of themselves, their families and the outside community, and with the capacity to be good citizens.
