I was trying to go to the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival but couldn't find a parking spot. I got on Google Maps and found "Public parking" a quarter mile away from the festival off Hickory with a sign that said "free parking". I parked and although the whole lot showed up as public parking on the map the west side is a private lot and I was towed at a cost of $189. My overall impression of Denton is that it is run down and not a modern city and has an unfriendly feel. There were a few bands and some random food trucks for the "festival" Needless to say I won't be visiting Denton again. Dallas, Fort Worth, and even McKinney are much better options in my opinion without the parking "landmines'
I will not shop in the city of Denton since they have decided to break the governors mask mandate. You can go down the road and shop places that don’t. Plano Sam’s…not that far. Lewisville Mall…not that far. Argyle CVS…not that far. We must stand up for our freedoms!!! City of Denton you are a big disappointment !!!
When headed to & from the Dallas area. I literally cringe because it's so stressful just trying to get in or out of Denton without getting stopped for what reason they decide that day. I really do hold my breath & start praying that their famous shiny bubble gum machine RED & BLUE lights pull in behind me. I seriously believe this city definitely needs a huge sign reading our city is famous for being. "The Best little speed trap in Texas". It honestly does not matter if you're keeping up with the flow of traffic & driving the speed limit. You will be singled out just because you happen to be the last car in line or in your group. So be warned & get prepare to be stopped. Oh & heaven forbid you don't have a Texas Tag! Once again get prepared to open up that wallet because your more than likely to lose money here than at any casino or racetrack. The odds are completely & 100% in this city's favor. I myself work as a City Treasurer. I keep track of the daily accounting such as records & deposits for each individual department of my city. I'd truly be surprised if this City's police department didn't bring in enough revenue on a monthly basis to pay for the entire yearly budget & then some. Lastly I know everyone complains at one time or another in their life about going through a city & you get stopped for not paying attention to those darn posted speed limit signs. Well I can't stress this enough. Start looking for the signs & try to drive well below the posted limit i.e. if the sign says anywhere from 55 to 75 Mph you need to drop at least 5mph below it. Oh! & Don't worry about looking to finding Denton's signs. They only have one sign posted going in & out of the city in all directions & it says 55 Mph. Just start paying really close attention as soon as you reach that city limit sign! Just roll the dice, hold your breath & pray while go through it. Good luck. Don't worry & be happy. Lol
Denton's speed trap racket is quite the money maker for the city--preying on new students, enforcing laws which have beem proven to NOT improve driver safety. Anyway, this is the place you pay the gang in blue their extortion money. Good service? Why bother? They don't have to provide good service. Government is a monopoly. It's organized crime.
When I walked in the records office, I was greeted by a friendly face and she asked how she could help me and she explained I needed to fill out the form at the kiosk and come back after I was done. When I went back she was helping another customer, so a different woman helped me out and from the beginning when she said rude and very unfriendly, she snapped at me when she said that she could help me over at her desk, and was rude when asking me questions. Then when it came to payment time, she said I need money now to complete the transaction. I was ready to speak to a higher authority, but I was just ready to get out of there I was so heated. I would've rated higher if it wasn't for the rude employee.
Wonderful trees.
