Beautiful library, love the rooftop courtyard especially and they have so many great events that they host throughout the year! Staff has always been nice friendly and helpful. Have seen other reviews complaining about the homeless population and personally I am so glad that they have a place to come in and sit down and escape the heat sometimes! They are always quiet and I've never been bothered by anyone, no matter their appearance or situation, at this library. So glad that the city provides a space and services for every member of our community to enjoy.
Always a fun visit here- from the moment you enter you're blown away by the sophisticated design. The children's library is truly that. You are greeted by sounds of nature as you walk in. There are lots of fun seats and sitting areas to curl up and get lost in a good. Children have access to reading buddies stuffed animals and hand puppets to perform in their own theater production . There's also a small children/ toddler room that allows for play and exploration with blocks, magnets, puzzles, beaded maze, animals, felt board and animal cutouts, etc.
Beautiful library! This is one great design compared to other states I've visited. I visited the previous day and didn't have a problem. This day it rained so homeless people left the open areas so stinky that I almost vomited. Please get air freshener! I'm soaking in incense before visiting again. The courtyard is clean too.
Rotating exhibit, permanent map collection, murals, peaceful courtyard gardens, and of course plenty of books and a kids area. Has everything you'd want from a main campus library including very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Beautiful library both inside and out. So many resources for the entire family and the staff is so helpful. Really enjoyed browsing the genealogy section on the 4th floor and look forward to returning and reviewing some censuses on microfilm.
staff was so helpful! i really appreciate the kindess!
I wanted to thank everyone that participated and created the "Ama-zine Creations" event. I took my 13 year old son and enjoyed every part of it and we purchased several items from vendors. My son also got his first library card of his own. Thank you for all you do to foster creativity and learning.
Best library in the city. Maybe even the state. They have a massive book selection, many different sections, and great staff. You should try the teen room if you are under 18 too! Great events and atmosphere there. The rest of the library is also amazing! My favorite part is the staircases, haha. Plus the little garden/fountain section! A lush beauty. You should check out this library sometime.
The staff in Special services was awesome. They have wonderful equipment to digitize slides, pictures, and more. I saw Italy England the Riviera Monte Carlo and Norway today.
The Main Jacksonville Public Library is a lynchpin of our city's culture. In addition to it's thousands of books on multiple stories, friendly staff, and actually comfortable reading / work stations, it offers a host of special events and opportunities for the people of Jacksonville.
