City of Portage Police Department

I stopped at the pilot travel center off of 20 and 94 this morning to find a city of portage police cruiser parked in a handicapped spot, running with nobody in it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking that there might be an emergency taking place inside only to realize once I entered the store that the officer in the cruiser was picking up a sandwich at the subway inside. As I left the store the officer drove away so I couldn’t get his plate, but the entire department should be ashamed and embarrassed by the actions of their officer. I fully intend to write a detailed report to the police department and keep an eye out for this degenerate in the future. He was between 25-35, with a full beard and clearly not disabled although he took full advantage of the parking spot Cops wonder why nobody likes police, well when you hire people like him you find out why.

If you were to take the New Webster's Universal Dictionary and look for the definition of a Great and Outstanding Civil Servant, you will see the name of Sergeant Kevin Glessing of the Portage, Michigan Police Department. Sergeant Kevin Glessing should be hired to be the Director of the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia, where he will be a great role model for all law enforcement personal worldwide.

On March 28th in the early morning I called 911 to report my grandson had taken pills. The officer who responded was wonderful. I don’t remember his name but he is a perfect example of a great police officer. He was kind and respectful to my grandson and myself. I am happy to report that my grandson is in counseling and doing well.

We recently had to use the portage ambulance service to help when my disabled father fell. Dan and Heather and one other person who's name we did not catch were extremely helpful, friendly, and respectful. They were able to quickly help my dad up and were very through in making sure he did not suffer any injuries. It is never a fun situation when needing assistance in a situation like this but your staff make a bad situation much better. They even gave us information on how to get financial help if this ever happens again. We greatly appreciate all the help we were given today.

This police department couldn’t be anymore USELESS! Totally worthless. Dispatchers presume a situation before observing the scene by the way they CANNOT over the phone and the Officer Kevin Gleesing was obstructionist. He stated that a cement pole in the middle of a parking spot was there to protect a fire hydrant. Keep in mind that you cannot see the fire hydrant let alone the pole and the poll is about 6 inches lower than the fire hydrant. He was called just put a visual of intelligence on the situation, yeah he could not even bear to do that. After 20 minutes of exchanging information he indicated, as you would expect, that there is nothing he can and no opinion he can provide. So, apparently this is what we pay our public servants for. Can you say colossal waste of time? God help us if these public servants are who are trusting ourselves in.

Portage is a Police State. I literally can't drive through there without getting pulled over. cops where I live now are pretty cool, but Portage PD has consistently proven themselves to be the worst out there. they love drumming up as many violations against you as possible, & never cut you a break. They're insanely suspicious, interrogate you & wanna search your car. stay outta Portage if possible, it's basically armed robbery at this point. what baffles me is that they truly sit around at the end of the day wondering to themselves why everybody hates them so much.

Stopped by on bikes with my five year old. A nice police officer had him help prepare his vehicle for the day including testing the siren.

Officers should focus on criminals instead of anyone with money disgusted they need better training or to be in prison.

The police officer are really good they protect your city they are amazing they keep everyone safe

300 a.m and portage tahoe driving down the street with there headlights off. Cant see how this could be legal. need an explanation
