Great little museum specific to the actual events dealing with the Battle of Lone Jack. Informative and well kept.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Don't let the size fool you, there is a lot of history packed into this uniquely round building! The attendant was VERY informative and gave us a lot of tidbits not found in history books. My 9 year old really enjoyed seeing all the old weaponry, and the dioramas gave a more detailed look at life during the civil war.
My family and I do the escape room every year, and they never cease to amaze. You would think there's only so much you can do in a 2 room building, but they do an amazing job. The museum is set up well also. The people there are very warm and personable as well. Highly recommend
Last minute stop while traveling in the area and I'm glad we made it. These smaller battle sites get overlooked and need support.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Fantastic little Civil War Museum about the Battle of Lone Jack. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great summary of what happened and where. The cemetery there is neat and interesting to see the trenches where the dead were buried. I wish I could have gone into the hotel across the street, but the museum was too busy for a separate tour.
I had a very good experience at the Civil War museum. I knew very little of the Civil War skirmishes that happened in Lone Jack and the surrounding towns. There was a lot more activity between the North and South than I thought. The people operating the museum are volunteers and they are all very knowledgeable. The first day I visited it wasn't very busy. Don Pedigo, took me on the tour and explained how and where the battles took place. His stories were riveting. I felt like an observer as the battles raged around me. They also have an Escape Room. It has gotten many good reviews. I can't wait to try it.
Friendly guide and plenty if shady parking. Interesting facts and pictures if the battle along with re-creation battle scene behind glass. Enjoyed it very much!
Just SE of KC on Mo 50 lies the burg of Lone Jack - a civil war battle site that is worth a stop. The quaint stone museum comissoned by Truman is great spot to remember and slow down.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, or just someone who needs something to do and are in or near loanjack, I highly recommend this little treasure. You can honestly spend just 30 minutes here or a whole day. Either way you will learn something new. Don't let it's size fool you big things come in this small package. The Docents here know their stuff and if you are not careful they will bring you down a great rabbit trail of wonderful story telling of history. If you are a home schooler this is a must! All in all I rate this 5+ out of 5.
