It is such an amazing place to visit, both as an adult, I enjoy it as much as my kids, or with kids. There are so many really cool and fun interactive games and places. It is definitely one of my kids' favorite places to go. We go very often, and they haven't become bored yet. In fact, they usually beg to stay longer. The parking under the Clark Planetarium usually has openings and is free, with validation, for the first hour. To get in is also free, unless you want to watch one of the movies. I can't come up with the right words to express how awesome it is, but know that it is cook enough that it can get rather crowded during weekends and other peak times, so plan accordingly if you are more of an introvert.
Awesome place to visit! The museum itself is free of charge for admission. You don’t have to pay anything and can go around. There are many interactive stations for you to learn different things, and it’s very educational. The day we went, there were a lot of kids, probably field trips. The store has a lot of things you can buy as memorandum. We got a snow globe, fridge magnet, and globe. We didn’t have enough time so we didn’t buy a ticket for the IMAX theater show.
This is free to the public and it is a fun interactive place to go with children. If you want to do the dome theater or the iMax theaters there's a cost for these. But if you need an afternoon for your children to be amused and to learn, take them to the planetarium for free! I probably wouldn't take toddlers here, but school age children would be appropriate.
I love that it is free to go through. It's something fun and educational to take your kids to. I would say the only thing that was unfortunate about this visit is that a lot of things didn't work, but really can't complain as it is free to go to. There is a theater there and a dome which you do have to pay for. There is theater food you can buy here. They have a fun gift shop with educational stuff for sale, but just like any gift shops overly priced and not always the best quality. They have a lot of interacting things kids and adults can do, and they have a little playground for the little ones . I would highly recommend visiting.
Very cool place to take the kids or grandkids for the day. Lots of science stuff for them to see and do. They also have an Imax which shows space science movies. There is a large science toy store inside and it's complete with telescopes and rocket build kits for continued fum after you leave the planetarium. Entry is free and they validate your parking garage ticket upon request. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Facility is very accessible for wheelchair users and those with service dogs.
Such a cool place and all for free!! My kids ages 7 & 11 can spend hours here! Littler kids love it too! So many cool hands on things to try and experiment! Definitely worth coming to! They will even validate your parking too!Visited onWeekdayWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great place to visit with your family or on a date. Plenty of parking that is attached to the building and across the street. Very educational with lots of information about space. Kid friendly with plenty of hands on activities. They have a really nice HD movie theater and concession stand. Plus it has a huge gift shop with tons of items for sale.
Salt Lake City has a free planetarium that we visited on Saturday. August 2023 It's funded by aerospace & defense contractor Northrop Grumman, so even the snack bar and movie theater inside is heavily subsidized. Don't expect a huge planetarium for free. This is on the small side, with the first floor dedicated to a gift shop, an exhibit on tornadoes and a collection of meteorites. The partial second floor is where the dome theater is located and a small exhibit on the weather in space and a plasma ball. The third floor has an area with remote controlled mini Mars rovers, an exhibit about black holes and a play space. We visited on an early Saturday morning and it wasn't too packed until around 2 PM - then it became so busy it wasn't feesible to read the exhibits with so many people with strollers pushing in on you. We ended up seeing two films for $9 each in their dome theater. The theater screen is a dome shape so it feels more immersive smaller than the dome theater in San Jose, California. My only complaint is that the under 7 crowd shouldn't be permitted in the paid movie theater. If a child is too small to sit quietly for a half hour, then this isn't an age appropriate activity. Kids were screaming, talking and climbing on chairs through both the pre-movie night sky presentation and the films. If they're not going to bar small children from the paid movie, they need to offer an adult only showing they have showings as late as 10:45 PM for their rock music films as is. I don't understand how entitled parents have become. If your kid is fussy, take them outside. If you're in a restaurant, a film, a museum, whatever, take them outside until they calm down. We all paid to be there and your kid doesn't have more of a right than the rest of us to be disruptive.
Clark's Planetarium is incredible! Parking garage allows easy access into the Planetarium. There are 3 levels with 2 different IMAX theaters. This museum is free, however, if you want to see an IMAX movie you pay for those tickets. We were there on Fun Science Friday, which had a hands-on time with microscopes and slides. There were employees available to help! Allow at least an hour to explore! More if you want to see a movie!
One of best places to stop by for a quick visit even if you don’t like science. If you have kids, this is one of the few places where they can be really inspired by science. There is no entry fee. However, there are a couple of science shows for which you have to buy tickets with a reasonable price. There are so many interactive objects that offer a hands on experience on different scientific events. There is a gift shop too where you can buy cool things including real telescopes.
