Claude Moore Park contains a blend of natural habitats, historic areas, educational opportunities and active recreation facilities. Native warm season grass and wildflower meadows, old-growth and transition woodlands, wetlands and ponds are peaceful settings for hiking, photography, bird watching, and exploring nature. Historic buildings, a Colonial-era road, interpretive displays, and a Civil War signal station site encourage a glimpse of the past.
The Visitor Center is a great place to begin your visit and select maps, brochures, and calendars of events and programs. Learn more from displays, field guides, and helpful staff and volunteers. The Visitor Center Discovery Room is a hands-on children’s nature area with artifacts, books, puzzles, and live turtles, tree frogs, a catfish and a corn snake.
