The Clay City Police Department was founded in 1884 and has been serving and protecting the City of Clay City and its citizens for over 100 years.
The Clay City Police Department is comprised of two officers:
-Chief James Kirk is a 12 year veteran in law enforcement. Chief Kirk received his training from the Department of Criminal Justice Training in 2003 graduating with class #329. Chief Kirk has had close to 2,000 hours or individual training provided by the Department of Criminal Justice Training and the Regional Organized Crime Information Center located in Nashville TN. He has received specialized training in DUI Detection, Domestic Violence, Narcotics Investigations, Homicide Investigations, Collision Reconstruction, Police Radar/LIDAR Certification,Internet Crimes and Investigations and is a certified DOCJT Police Training Officer.
Kirk has also received Drug Task Force training while working alongside the Dallas Police Department and North Texas HITDA in Dallas TX.
- Officer William Rice comes to the Clay City Police Department from the Powell County Sheriff's Department. Officer Rice graduated from the DOCJT in 2013 as a member of class # 440 . Officer Rice has received training in patrol, investigations, DUI detection ,domestic violence to name a few. Officer Rice is a tremendous asset to the Clay City Police Department.
