I don't live there I'm just passing through.... the reviews I'm assuming are from friend's of the establishment. I wasn't impressed with any of it from walking through the door. Over priced on everything. The soup had good flavor but the beans needed to soak longer to get softer. The place is outdated for the prices there asking. My bowl of soup looked like they got it out if the dirty dishes compared to the other's bowl of soup. My first time here and ill go out of my way to go to another place before thinking of going back to this place.....
We stopped here to eat with family. The waitress kept forgetting us when we asked her to do something. She never came back to tell us about any pies they have when we asked her. One of our patty melts was way under cooked and we had to send it back. We waited over 20 more minutes to get it back and the place was not that busy. I would not recommend eating here, but if you do, I hope your experience is better than ours was.
Highly recommended!.. This is the second time some friends and I have came to Clay’s for Sunday breakfast and glad to say we all had a great time. A nice cozy place. Food was delicious with little waiting, very fair price. Kaitlyn our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive to make everything more enjoyable. The country fried steak was the best I’ve ever had!. We’ll keep coming back for sure.
Ate here this morning and I am incredibly glad that I did after a debacle of a meal at that hatchery place in Angola last night. The country fried steak steak is to die for with what I can I only guess is a lightly peppered breading that shines through the gravy... Delicious!!! Marble rye toast, eggs and potatoes! I'd definitely go back to this cozy little restaurant and recommend that you stop in also!
05/29/2022.. I saw this place on google maps and wanted to try it out. I got the 6 piece Perch fish plate with baked potato and green beans. When I got there I received a warm greeting inside the restaurant. It is the first time trying Perch fish and I loved it. Buttery and full of flavor. Also, the fish was fresh!! I greatly appreciate. I will try to come by again soon. Thank you so much
We just stopped at Clay’s for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. Service was excellent. Our server, Katelyn, was personable and we enjoyed chatting with her. All of the staff we had contact with was so friendly Our meal came quickly and was delicious! Coffee was also great!
There's Sunday breakfast buffet is great many choices, they are very good at switching and adding small enough place you can tell the cooks what you want more of! Country fried steak sausage biscuits and gravy etc many homemade pies and danishes Wheelchair accessibility: Nice location for handicap parking
The best food they have is their salad bar! The perch was unedible, literally had greese pouring out of it. The reuben was somehow even worse, I've never seen a "restaurant" lay slices of pastrami flat instead of staggered, like a typical reuben. Whenever you're go for a bite, the rest of the meat came with it! We were excited to try the pies since all the reviews raved about them, but they only had one, which looked terrible. It literally looked like they went and took a pint of blueberries and threw them in a pie crust, something a 5 year old could do! Our waitress was very nice, though she was dressed like she just came from high school. Name tags should be required at the very least. I never leave bad reviews, especially for small family owned business, but I felt this was necessary and you're seriously better off going anywhere to eat besides here! Their 4.3/5 rating is very deceiving, make sure you read reviews within the past year if you want an accurate description of what you'll be getting at Clay's!
Clay's restaurant has new owners.. our dinner was the most awful dinner ever anywhere. We drove hour & half to go here. Waitress was distracted by friends sitting in dinning room. She was wearing awful ripped jeans on, I mean RIPPED all over. Could completely see her legs, & had an attitude. Pie list was pasted around on a piece of note book paper table to table. Ever hear of covid?? She was cleaning tables running cash register & then serving food. Kitchen door was open, She did not wash her hand in-between. Cooks were wearing no gloves. My husband's fish sandwich was skimpy, mostly breading & was cold, served on a terrible thick hoagie bun. We asked to get a warm sandwich, they took it back & microwave the fish, which made it hard & bun still cold. Fried mushrooms was over cooked & was cooked in old oil. We could go on & on, the entire experience, food service, waitress & cooks appearance was terrible. Will NEVER be back. When I told waitress that, she just said, they have made changes. Obviously not for the good. Save your time & money. We spent $50 for an awful experience
We have visited several times a month for years and always enjoyed the experience and food, but were very disappointed when we visited on Tuesday afternoon. This was the first time we visited since the "new ownership ". It was not busy at all. Maybe 4 tables had customers when we arrived. No one seated us. We finally just walked over and sat at a table. Once waitress finally came over, she was noting but attitude. No greeting, just "what do you want to drink." When she came back to take orders, was extremely short and unfriendly. Then meals for our party of 5 came out all at separate times. The first two meals came out and then it was 8 minutes before the next 2 came out, and then another 5 minutes after that for the last plate to be served. The fish,, which we have always loved and ordered for years, was chewy and hard. My husband never received one of his side dishes and when he mentioned it to the waitress, she turned, left, got it, and never said a word. At one point 2 elderly women came in and sat at the far corner table and the waitress rolled her eyes as she had to maneuver around the table to go to the back corner to wait on them. Waitress never once checked on us the entire time we were trying to eat. We finally just got up and stood by register, waiting for our bill and to pay. Someone came out of the back room and started looking for the ticket, couldn't find it, and finally the waitress who had seen us get up and go to try and pay called this girl over and handed her our bill without so much as a word to us. I totally understand that times are hard for businesses to find good help, but this waitress clearly had no clue what she was doing and made a terrible impression on is for the new Clay's. Definitely miss the old Clay's! Unfortunately, untill the quality of the food and service improves, we will not be going back or recommending.
