Owner/baker Drew Hettinger has always enjoyed making breads and cookies. It came to his attention that even the best breads on grocery store shelf had "extra" things added to them. Trying to live a healthier lifestyle, Drew started building recipes with real and pronounceable ingredients. He then started taking his products to the Townsend Farmer's Market. Customers provided positive and negative feedback to better tweak existing breads and gave ideas for new ones. The demand became greater and Clear Creek Bread was formed.
Clear Creek Bread is a home based bakery. It will never strive to become a large commercial production bakery. The goal is to provide “Homemade” products with flavor for those trying to live a healthy lifestyle. All the recipes are created in house. This means a recipe is tweaked or revamped until it has that “homemade” quality.
Sales are a personal thing. Meeting the person who actually makes, or grows, your food is important. It really is a relationship. Clear Creek Bread strives to sustain and improve with customers providing both positive and negative feedback. This is encouraged and helps to improve and develop products. Great bread takes time. Time to allow the natural flavor to develop on its own. Time to knead and form the dough by hand to get the texture just right. Specialty sourdough breads are made with a starter that is over 100 years old. No commercial yeast is added in the sourdough breads. This means it takes time to make bread.
“The better the parts; the better the end product”. All ingredients come from quality manufactures and local farms when possible. Flours come from Wheat Montana or specialty providers. Fresh herbs come from the Hettinger Farm at the same location. Quality, good tasting ingredients means flavorful bread and cookies.
