Cleveland Aquarium
"Did you know archerfish are living squirt guns with amazing aim? That male seahorses give birth? Or that some sharks can lose up to 30,000 teeth in a lifetime? Nature. It’s a curious thing. See these and other fascinating aquatic creatures up close at Ohio's only freestanding independent aquarium."

Great little aquarium to spend an hour or an afternoon. I would not call this a destination attraction but I would certainly recommend it as a part of your visit in Cleveland. It's a great way to spend a morning or afternoon...especially if you find our reliable Ohio weather has interfered with your plans. I found the staff here exceptional, friendly and engaging. They also have good knowledge about the entire aquarium, not just the spot they work in. Very well laid out and uniquely designed aquariums. Good lighting. Interesting and varied species, some I've not encountered at other aquariums. Love the seadragons and 'feeding' the cleaner shrimp. You can spend time and learn a lot here or just let it be a little diversion for the kids for an hour or so. Very cool building as well plus building and area history if you're interested in that kind of thing as you walk through. Admission charge was about what I would expect. Parking was easy...though I was there when they opened.
Although this aquarium is relatively small it still has a large amount of exciting exhibits. The shark exhibits and the underwater tunnels are amazing and are super fun to spend time watching the sharks from underneath. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Just be aware that because the aquarium is small it goes by very fast unless you take more time with each exhibit.
This aquarium is small, but it utilizes all the space it does have and fills every corner with awesome exhibits and facts! The staff here was so kind and friendly. We definitely enjoyed our visit here.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
Really awesome aquarium in an old rustic building in downtown Cleveland. Parking is plentiful and cheap. Takes a little over an hour to go though and I think it's well worth the price of admission. We're big aquarium people, and I think the Shark exhibit is the coolest one i've ever seen. I've never seen Sharks that big in a tank, and they swim right next to you. It's a thrilling experience to see them swim over you in the underwater tunnel Our other favorite was the touch tank with the Rays, they feel so cool! As visitors from out of town, we always liked the exhibits showing the aquatic life native to Ohio. Great views of downtown. One of our favorite things we did on our trip to Cleveland. I'd add that we found Cleveland to be an awesome city! We really enjoyed our time here
Took my nephew here with my brother for Father's Day since the little man's favorite animals are all fish. I've been here several times before, and it's a great trip every time. The drive down kind of sucks because Cleveland streets spawn potholes every winter, but that can't be helped. Anyway, the aquarium is fantastic, with beautiful exhibits. Staff are super nice and eager to answer questions about the animals in the exhibits. My nephew loved the shark tank with it's under-the-water walkway - interactive education walls, and the stingray touch tank. They've been renovating several exhibits, so I'm excited to see how they'll be when they're finished!
Wonderful child friendly aquarium. We took our 6 month old here for a day outing and he loved it! A lot of the exhibits are eye level for strollers which is perfect. The museum is divided between freshwater and salt water and some of the notable exhibits were the stingray touch tank and the sea tube. I definitely recommend checking it out!
Very fun afternoon trip! Affordable and all of the exhibits for the fish are beautifully maintained. All of the workers were very kind and knowledgeable too! Very awesome glass tube to watch the sharks!!! Worth a trip!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
The Cleveland Aquarium never fails to charm, even on a repeat visit! My family and I were once again captivated by the array of exotic fish and fascinating animals. From vibrant tropical displays to calming deep-sea exhibits, there's always something to catch the eye. A standout experience for us was the stingray touchpool. The sheer thrill of feeling the smooth glide of a stingray as it passes under your fingers is exhilarating. It's moments like these that create lifelong memories. The sight of workers scuba diving amongst the marine life, going about their maintenance tasks, added another layer of intrigue to our visit. However, while the Aquarium is visually stunning, it could benefit from more educational facets. Additional interactive areas or more in-depth guided tours would significantly enhance the experience. Learning about diverse species and their unique habitats in more detail is always a joy. Furthermore, its compact size means the tour wraps up in about an hour — great for those on a tight schedule but might leave some wishing for more. All in all, the Cleveland Aquarium offers a delightful dip into the marine world. While there's room for improvement in educational offerings, it's undeniably a gem in the heart of Cleveland!
Aquarium is small but its definitely a cool place to go to! Definitely bring your kids here they will love it! Prices are not too bad $20 is cheap and there was no waiting in line for us at the time. You get to touch stingrays, see sharks, see all sorts of animals from other parts of world... Good stuff!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$16–20
We drove from Alliance to Cleveland to go to this aquarium, and if you have to drive over an hour to get there, it may or may not be for you. It was very nice and everyone we met was friendly, it was just small. I don't fault the aquarium for that, but I did expect it to be a little bigger. We had fun, all the fish and sharks and everything were cool to look at, our 2 year old had a lot of fun. The price for admission was decent, but the gift shop was crazy in terms of pricing. But you can choose to buy something or not. Maybe in the future they will expand a but more, but for us, once was enough for now.
