CFROG defends the environment and public health against dangerous and destructive practices of the oil and gas industry. A non-profit watchdog organization, CFROG consistently calls for enforcement of existing legal protections, and insists on transparency, accountability and responsibility from both the industry and government regulators. Alert to immediate hazards and to the longer terms impacts of climate change, CFROG is engaged in advocacy, citizen research, legal intervention and public education.
Issues addressed include: location and drilling of new wells and use of existing wells; methods of extraction such as chemical stimulation, acidization and hydrologic fracturing ("fracking"); oil and gas waste disposal and transportation. CFROG challenges permit applications and other filings, as well as regulatory policy and legislative proposals related to the oil and gas industry. CFROG's goal is proactive protection of air, water, forests, land stability, wildlife, agriculture, and public health.
