Looked up "most iconic meals in Miami" and saw that Clive's Jerk Chicken had an amazing reputation. We had it delivered and were very disappointed because they did not include silverware we are staying in a hotel so had to eat much of the meal with the lid of a container. I was a bit forgiving of the lack of silverware since it is a simple mistake. Then I saw the hair on our goat curry. Spent about $90 on this abomination with the delivery fee. If you plan on spending a lot on a meal I suggest you look elsewhere, Miami has more to offer you than this disappointment.
The large oxtails were well seasoned. So was the jerk chicken. The Mac and cheese didn’t have the cheese crust on top but had a good flavor. The cabbage was not over cooked; was seasoned and the coco bread was good. Really enjoyed the food and it was like an hour or 2 before closing so that’s even more impressive.Food: 5/5
Clives Cafe melt in your mouth food…..yummmmm, doesn’t do it justice!! Fall off the bone jerk chicken, refreshing homemade Rum Punch!!! Authentic, @ Home, fill your belly up
Clive’s Cafe has the real deal authentic Jerk Chicken! The peas and rice with plantains were a nice complement! The place even makes their own ginger beer, which you HAVE to try! If you don’t eat meat, the steamed snapper with Okra is BUSSIN!!
Sorry for the already eaten food photos. Was hungry and didn't take the pics prior to stuffing my face......With that out of the way, this place is absolutely exquisite!!! This is one of those hole in the wall joints that make you really feel as if you're at home. My wife and I stopped in here on our vacation in Miami beach. From our hotel it was only a 12 minute drive, and when we arrived we were greeted by the staff very friendly. When my wife and I sat at the bar, the bartender was very nice. She asked us if we had been there before and when we told her no, she gave us the rundown of the food, the area, her life, and the restaurant. We opted to sit down and eat but decided to take our food to go. Before we left we took some pictures, ugh....on my wife's phone of course and the bartender offered to take for us. SUPER nice people to meet!! Now the food: WOW is all I can say. Out of this world!!! I had the goat curry, plantains, rice and beans. My wife had the red snapper, plantains, and a small salad I believe. It's flipping crazy how good this food is. The goat was SOOO tender and flavorful. I could barely tell the difference between this goat meat and typical lamb meat. The plantains were nice soft, slightly sweet, with this seasoning/crust or whatever that just set it off, and when you mix all this with the rice..............LAWD!!!!! They have these alcohol slushies they make and the peach SLAPS!!!! DO NOT SKIP ON THE PEACH SLUSHIE!!!! You are doing yourself a disservice if you are Miami near Miami beach and you don't stop here at some point. Please support this business, they definitely deserve it!
Definitely one of the best chicken I had… I like Indian dum style chicken with spices, this one came close to anything I ate outside Indian, and it is really yummy! Not at all spicy though everyone mentioned it is spicy chicken. It was fresh and cooked well!
Felt like home. The vegetarian food was well prepared and the serving sizes were decent. The only critique I had was that my dishes were a little salty. The service was also really great. Our server was kind and helpful.Dine in: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: Yes
The food was fresh and delicious. I had the jerk pork. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The skin had the crispness from the grill and it was not burned. The plantains were sweet and the rice and peas were also good. My sister had a large curry chicken and she cleaned her plate. I could eat here everyday. The price was reasonable. The wait staff was attentive always smiled.
I just ordered food here. $25 for a small ox tail with the and peas, $30 for a large. It doesn't come with steam vegetables or plantains which is customary when you order from jamaican restaurants. They're the only one in the neighborhood so I understand how they're able to get away with such higher prices than if they were in Miami gardens where there's a jamaican restaurant in every corner. But the food was no good.. no flavor on the ox tail.. the gravy looks watered down. Doesn't look like they browned the ox tail. I'm from Riversdale jamaica so, as a jamaican, I would not recommend this place at all! I attached pictures of my $30 ox tail plate.
