Dr. Koo has impeccable bedside manner! My husband and I could not stop talking about how comfortable he made us feel. He did not make me feel like I’m just a number but a patient, human, and heard. Thank you for the knowledge you passed along. Dr. Koo is a top notch doctor and Winona Healrh is lucky to have him!
Excellent attention, care and organization. Every person we dealt with went above and beyond what was expected. Expert opinions and business-like discussions with a big touch of humor were truly appreciated. I will sing the praises of you all.
Dr. Ian Young is fantastic! We were in the ER twice recently and Dr. Young went above and beyond each time. He is knowledgeable and intelligent but also funny and down to earth. He put us at ease and inspired total confidence in his abilities. The nursing staff were also wonderful, responsive and kind.
Have had some terrible treatment at Winona Health and was very anxious to be at the ER. I actually said "oh thank God it you!" upon seeing Dr Young. I knew that I was going to be treated with respect and heard. Thanks to Dr Young my ER visit was less traumatic. Shout out to my nurse. I appreciate you being gentle.
If it were possible to leave a review with zero stars I would do that. I was employed here and experienced mouse poop in my workplace which was our designated eating area when I was pregnant. Our boss initiated mandatory budget cuts so they took away our/patients water source that costed $60 per month to rent but didn’t consider buying options. Keep in mind I was pregnant. Now, I went into pre-term labor which my doctor explained was a placental abruption brought on by an infection in the past 24 hours. After begging for pain medicine and telling the nurse who didn’t know what they were doing to call my doctor as I was having contractions. I waited an hour for the doctor to arrive even though we called the hospital an hour prior to arriving and explained to them what was happening-ask me why they didn’t notify my doctor then that I was having contractions at only 23 weeks. I waited another hour for the first dose of pain medicine due to a slow computer system. I waited another hour for the second dose of pain medicine. After the doctor said “my symptoms improved” even though I felt everything and was still having contractions he left for two hours to take a nap. When he returned because he was paged by my nurse I was already dialated and my water sack was exposed. He explained that I had to deliver my baby or my body would go into sepsis in the next 48 hours I would die. When I was finally ready to deliver I was told I had to wait another 30 minutes for the team from Gunderson to arrive to assist with breathing. Upon delivering they took my baby from me immediately to try and assist with his breathing leaving him bruised and lifeless. I gave birth to my stillborn son who at 23 weeks had not had fully developed lungs. Not a day goes by when I do not miss my son and have to painfully remember that experience I will never go back to this hospital and would never work for an organization who has no legal or moral integrity. I have values that far exceed this institution who cannot even practice basic health and safety procedures or put the patients care and life at the top of their priorities. This place is a complete joke and you should seek care elsewhere! Take it from my own personal testimonial who witnessed the inner workings as an employee and the outer workings as a patient.
Based on our horrible experiences with the ERs in our hometown of Atlanta, we were dreading a late night visit to the ER in Winona after my daughter sustained an injury that appeared to need stitches. However, we were greeted promptly and kept apprised of our wait time. Dr. Young was so personable and had an incredible bedside manner. He immediately put my daughter at ease, and walked her through exactly what to expect as he got her all fixed up . He did a fantastic job with her stitches! I joked that he should be a plastic surgeon, but after just 10 days, her wound is healed and the scar is nearly invisible!
Best experience we could have ever had from a bad afternoon. Went in with my heart racing, and difficulty breathing. We knew they would have to use a cardioversion procedure to get it under control. Everyone there was so professional and nice, and Dr. Koo was wonderful! He was so friendly with a great sense of humor, he put us right at ease. He took the time to listen to us and explain everything. He spent a great deal of time with us, took care of the problem, and I couldn't have been happier! Amazing doctor and a great team working at the emergency room in Winona!
Awesome staff, very professional and personable. My mother broke her shoulder and when we arrived at the ER, Parker Kelley was getting off duty & instead of handing us off to another person, stayed over his shift to help treat my mother and put her at ease right away. He was fantastic and made us both feel comfortable . Peggy Krage-Koenig was also a great help getting us a ride back to our hotel as we were there on a bus trip & did not have our own vehicle. They really care about their patients. I highly recommend them. Thank you to the entire team!!
I was treated very well at the ER on my visit there. The people there are so understanding of my problem and explain what is going on so well. I truly appreciate their concern for my health care.
Having worked in a Level 3 trauma center before I was concerned I would not get the care needed in the smaller ER. I couldn’t have been any further wrong with Dr Watras and his team. They were quick and phenomenal at caring for me! I will never hesitate in going back to Winona Hospital again. Thank you!
