As traditional motion picture, television and video game businesses are merging into an integrated digital entertainment landscape, the MEIM program provides students with the most applicable skills to successfully learn development, production, marketing, distribution and exhibition practices across all entertainment platforms.
The MEIM program is more than a film producing, TV producing or game development degree. It is a hands-on path to mastering the fundamentals of today’s entertainment industry. At Carnegie Mellon’s Pittsburgh campus, first-year students are provided a solid foundation through quantifiable business and financial management classes taught by Heinz College’s world-renowned faculty. Moving to Los Angeles for the second year, students learn from top entertainment industry professionals at the MEIM Center, located within minutes of NBC/Universal, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Studios/ABC Television, CBS, and DreamWorks Animation. This second year is also a rigorous professional practicum, with students supplementing their full academic course load with 4 days per week in internships with top entertainment companies, including major studios, talent agencies, management firms, game publishers, marketing and distribution companies, broadcast and cable networks, and production companies.
The mission of the Master of Entertainment Industry Management (MEIM) Program is to prepare the next generation of successful executives and entrepreneurs for leadership in Film, TV & Video Game Production, Entertainment Marketing and Content Distribution across all entertainment media platforms and screens.
MEIM supports its students by instilling critical thinking,encouraging professionalism, integrity, business ethics, and promoting career development skills to benefit graduates throughout their career. From Heinz College’s world-class policy and management curriculum, the program balances a well-designed, rigorous graduate academic experience with practical professional internships.
Students in the MEIM Program learn to:

Investigate and study the entertainment industry through theoretical and applied research;
