Awesome store. Lots and lots of ciclid. It's like a candy store. The owners were very knowledgeable and patient. It took my husband 2 hours to decide on 3 fish. Lol. Prices are fantastic. We go there almost on a weekly basis to see what's new for inventory. We have gotten some amazing fish from here. Highly recommend everyone go here for your fish purchases. Just added some more pictures of the firemans dream flowerhorn we got yesterday. There is such a huge variety of fish here. You absolutely have to go here. Better than any chain store you will ever visit.
I bought several discus over the last month and the last ones were the blue diamonds,I went against my own better judgement and bought fish out of a tank where others were visibly sick I figured it was something simple/treatable turns out it was discus plague all 3 blue ones have died the most recent 2 were purchased 4 days ago. .In all honesty it's entirely my own fault however I wouldn't recommend purchasing discus here as this is a highly contagious virus that can affect your tank for months Update they told my friend its probably ammonia poisoning however that would have an effect on every fish in the tank not just the discus ...my ammo is at 0 .Note the lack of cloudy eye ,which is the first sign of an ammonia issue in almost any fish.. Also we both got fish the same day and hers are having the exact same symptoms which all go back to the discus plague.. I chose not to comment on the fact that I was treated like I dont know what I'm doing after dropping 1000 on just discus and was pretty offended by the implication.. also to reiterate ,it was my own fault for purchasing fish from a tank where others were visibly sick which the owner knew because I showed himalso I'm not sure how anyone could get the wrong impression ,literally not a single word of this review is inaccurate or untrue...I do appreciate the offer to test my water however I know that's not the issue as its tested weekly and this is a fully cycled tank ... I notice you didn't mention the 3 refunds you gave my friend without testing her water ..considering elephant nose are just as sensitive and similarly priced why the difference in policy? Its confusing to have different rules for different customers..also how would you know if they were sick? You sold them to us as soon as they came in...you ever think it could be from your supplier?...... that is all.. good day sirbottom pic is my friends blue diamond For the record I have absolutely no reason to lie ,I also never even asked for a refund I only informed you that you had sick fish. I suggest you check your tanks parameters and immediately start treatment ..I think you have me confused with someone elsemy friend Nikki? Simply breath taking. I'm still wowed. If your looking for breath taking healthy fish and clean tanks you have to go there. I drove 4 hrs to buy some great fish. What a selection. And owner very knowledgeable. All his stock are in 55 gallon tanks and has like 75 of them full of fish to buy . And I won't leave out his huge thousands of gallons holding tanks full of huge man eating fish that range from a couple feet to 4 feet long where you can watch and feed if you like. Fully satisfied customer. My name is Greg and this place is a must go.
Went in happy and left feeling sad and a bit disgusted. Very few of the fish catered to properly, dozens of tanks had multiple dead fish in them. Most of the tanks looked empty with a huge mass of discolored stressed fish congregating behind the only cover in the tank filter. Several tanks had both fresh and Brackish water fish in them which is very concerning. The “freshwater” snowflake eels were the saddest to me as there was still no hiding places for them and the live and dead piled together looking very sickly. It’s great they take so many trade ins but serious reworks are required.
I went to their location in North Syracuse. While the staff was very knowledgeable and seemed to love their fish, I did have an overall negative experience. I purchased fish that I later learned were not suitable for my tank size, even though the employee assured me they were. While I don't expect the workers to know every little thing about every species, I do think that they should have known my tank was not suitable. Within a few days of getting my fish they developed some pretty severe ich. This again could have been my fault, however I never had an issue with ich before. Soon after one of my fish died, the other is doing quite well in its recovery from ich. Overall I thought that the place was nice, maybe I just got an unlucky end of it.
Worst fish store I have ever been in. Inhumane. The tanks were very nasty and gross looking. One of the tanks was so cloudy you couldn’t even see the back of it. We saw many dead fish floating in many tanks. And we saw fish meant for brackish water in the same tanks as fish meant for saltwater. You can tell they don’t care about the fish at all which creates a horrible environment.
The two gentleman at the shop were awesome! Very knowledgeable and friendly! Awesome selection of fish. Does have some huge fish unlike other shops which was what I was looking for. They sold me my huge Jack Dempsey and I'm super stoked about working with them in the future! I for sure recommend them! Thanks guys you're awesome!
This is a place that I would highly recommend it's definitely up and coming it's a new facility so they're a little disorganized but the guys were friendly and very helpful . and they were trying to get the place together big job big place but if you need fish this is the place you want to go .definitely want to go here if you want your a fish lover and you're trying to find that one fish for your tanks these guys would probably be able to get it for you . And the prices were definitely fair .so I highly recommend them if you're in the area stop in
Updated: 05/22/21 First time I visited this new location of CNY Fish Exchange since they moved and it is AWESOME! They have so many colorful fish and would love to take home a lot of Cichlids! I’ve been doing business with CNY Fish Exchange for quite some time now! Even though I live over an hour, I drive purposely to come see this store! It’s worth the drive. Prices are reasonable! I never leave empty handed! Owners are super nice and knowledgeable. They are not pushy so you can take your time picking out the perfect fish to bring home. I particularly love dealing with George! He knows exactly what kind of fish that I really like. With so many different fish to look at, sometimes I miss a fish or two that would go great with my tank. And sometimes George would be able to show that colorful fish that would be perfect for my cichlid tank! I love this store and would continuously go back! It’s probably a good thing I live over an hour or else, I’ll be in so much trouble buying a lot of fish every week lol.
