Coalition for Hispanic Family Services is a community-based comprehensive family service agency located in New York City. We serve the communities of Bushwick, Williamsburg and East New York, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Elmhurst and Corona, Queens.
Our goal is to empower children, youth and families with opportunities for success and self-reliance while reinforcing their sense of cultural and self-identity. This is achieved through a holistic, culturally competent, family based approach.

Most services are free of charge and are available in English and Spanish
• Creando Raices Familiares Foster Boarding Home Program offers bilingual (English/Spanish) services in community based foster care, adoption, home finding, independent living for teens, and such ancillary services as housing advocacy, education and training for youth, birth parents, and resource parents.
• Adolescents in Motion (AIM) Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home program(TFBH) offers community based placements for seriously emotionally disturbed children who have also been abused and neglected and are known to the child welfare system. With teaching parents as therapeutic agents of change, these children have the opportunity to have their mental health needs addressed while remaining within their own community. The program also works closely with birth parents to facilitate reunification.
• Arts and Literacy After School and Summer Program provides a literacy-based arts curriculum to children and youth as an after school program and in summer camp institutes. Through this curriculum the children explore crucial developmental issues of the self, family, community, and relationships. This comprehensive program offers instruction in drama, visual arts, literacy, film, and photography. Homework assistance, cultural trips, specialized workshops, and recreational activities are also offered. Parents receive social services, monthly workshops and ESL classes. The program is located in three schools in Bushwick, one school in Bed Stuy, and four schools in Queens.
• Bonding Links/Enlazos Familiares Mental Health Services for Children and Families offers clinical services that will make permanency for children more likely and better enables children to grow up to become healthy adults. The Mental Health Clinic provides psychiatric evaluation, individual, family and group psychotherapy for children, resource parents (foster parents) and biological parents, and as appropriate, support services and crisis intervention. The Community Residence located in Bushwick, serves eight seriously emotionally disturbed children ages 8 to 13.
• First Steps is a primary prevention program for parents, their babies under three years of age and their older siblings. Group services are offered to the parent and child with the goal of fostering a positive, nurturing, relationship between parent(s) and child(ren), Parents also participate in adult groups that introduce and facilitate goal setting for the parents. Siblings under the age of 5 also participate in a sibling group. Group services are accompanied by home visits and all infants are followed until the age of three. Ackerman Institute for the Family developed the curriculum for this program and are partnering with Coalition in operating First Steps.
• Beacon Center for Leadership and the Arts is a community center housed at Intermediate School 291 in Bushwick, offering an arts based after school program for middle school students. During the evenings and weekends classes are also available for adults that include education, recreation, physical fitness and job training.
• Hope Gardens In Bushwick is a community center offering free after school and summer programs for children 5-12 year as well as activities for teens and young adults ages 13-21. Adult classes are offered in ESL, fitness and other areas.
In 2013 we served over 7,000 children and families.
