The Memorial Services Detachment was organized by Ram Chavez and the Veterans Band to provide the full military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
It was an honor when I was asked by Jack Slayton, Texas State Cemeteries Director to organize a memorial team to perform the full military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. The first volunteer team was recruited from the members of the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi and other veterans' volunteers signed up as we continue to honor our veterans. The MSD organized on Dec. 1, 2911, performed the first funeral at the CBSVC on December 13, 2011 and will host their Open House on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. They have done a splendid and wonderful job with respect, honor, & dignity since the first full military funeral at the CBSVC.
