"Owner and executive chef Marcus Kwan’s journey to the kitchen began at a young age. While his father and mother toiled as rice farmers in their small Cantonese village, a 7-year-old Marcus cooked simple meals for himself out of necessity. A favorite of his at that tender age was pan-fried fish much like C.O.D’s pan-fried sea bream."

The service is impeccable !!!! I have to preface this review by saying I’m a huge oyster fan and dropped by only for oysters / salad. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating I think the best part of this establishment, they were extremely kind to our dog and brought him out some chicken and water. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and not snobby, the bar is a very nautical theme which I liked and thought was unique. However, during our visit their water was down so we were unable to use the restroom / wash our hands and had to go next door to another restaurant to do so which was a bummer. Now down to the oysters, my main reason for the 2 star deduction , we sampled 6 of each of their available oysters including Kumamoto oysters which are my absolute favorite. The oysters were not briny at all and tasted dry, not fresh and were barely edible. After that experience I was reluctant to try anymore of the raw bar. It was about $55 or so. Many spots in Los Angeles for oysters for me, but this is not one of them sadly.
I had a fantastic dining experience at C.O.D Seafood House & Raw Bar. The sea bass was an absolute delight, bursting with flavor. The assorted seafood dish was a true treat, and the clam chowder was top-notch. Our waiter's friendly and attentive service truly enhanced our visit. Despite the abundance of empty tables, the quality of the food and service is deserving of a larger crowd. Definitely a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts!
FOOD: All the dishes are flavorful from the salmon carpaccio, pork belly, and grilled octopus all of them are unique, just one recommendation DON'T order everything in one because they will send everything together I wish they can do a pause or courses. When that comes to service, to be honest our server she seems so distracted and lost. I mean we need to tell her a couples of times about our drinks order she kept forgetting. Then she got distracted with a baby that she forgot about us and didn't even come up and check on us how everything was. Until you have eye contact with her and she will check on you However, One of the things that I love it's that they are dog friendly.
Mind blowing food. Served fast. Affordable price. I can’t comprehend what the catch is. I stayed at the hotel just on the near block and came here the first night… then the next… then the next…Food: 5/5
their uni pasta is dry , small amount off sauce, no salt , no taste. Ordered delivery two times and actual uni was just blended with sauce. Not a good pasta. + very small portions for lobster roll. Ordered regular shrimp pasta one time and it was dry as well
COD is one of my favorite Asian-inspired seafood places. The Lavender Mule is smooth and refreshing I love it with tequila instead of vodka which you can substitute with no additional charge. The Spicy Tuna Rice has the perfect amount of heat & crunchiness - it’s soooooo good and with only 4 you might end up fighting over them. The Crispy Walnut Shrimp is actually some of my favorite in LA I love how freshly they prepare it - it never disappoints me & I order it every time I come. The Chicken Garlic Noodles aren’t overpowered with garlic & the Parmesan adds a nice saltiness to the noodles - I love them. The Shrimp Fried Rice was delicious as well as the Crispy Garlic Brussels sprouts for a side vegetable. The customer service was excellent and I loved the scenery/atmosphere sitting on the upper level - can’t wait to come back excellent late date night spot!
I just moved to the area and still unpacking decided to order dinner. I ordered spicy tuna crispy rice, orange chicken and garlic noodle w veggies! Everything was delicious! Especially the tuna crispy rice! The portions were generous and the flavor was spot on! The garlic noodles could use less oil but so yummy!!!
Food: 7.9/10 Members in my party did not enjoy the stir fry as there were substantially more veggies than shrimp. I ordered 3 different types of fried shrimp and all 3 were solid. My friend's sushi roll was enjoyable as far as I can tell and a member of my party also really enjoyed her chicken Lo mein. Soda was expensive and nonrefillable. Ambience: 9/10 Really well furnished with an ADA accessible upper deck and dining level. Tasteful decorations elevated the Bar area and candles on each table made the dining experience feel special. Service: 7/10 Typical for the area and price point. Nothing bad but nothing to set itself apart from the rest. Waited ~15 minutes for my table after making a reservation. Value for money: 5/10 Left this restaurant feeling hungry after spending nearly 40 dollars. If you're driving, which many of you probably will, there is a Valet that only accepts cash for $16 dollars. Cake cutting fee of 3 dollars per guest. Would I come again? Maybe. Just maybe...
All the food—on point. Sea bass, tender to the fork, falls apart in your mouth. Grilled octopus, cooked to perfect texture and great beans. But this is my own personal opinion, i find it hard to give 5 stars for fine Asian dining. For Asian food, I either want super experimental, completely out-of-this-world dining experience, or something very homey, warm and unassuming. That weird grey area in the middle where it’s neither too novel nor traditional doesn’t attract me, but I’m sure plenty would disagree.
COD was our favorite restaurant while in LA! I would say it’s Asian-Fusion. We ordered several items which were so delicious, fresh and plentiful! And the waitress was very nice, funny and she did everything. She served the food, mixed the drinks and did everything.
