Nice camping, the ladies bathroom lights were out and I didn't know how to turn them on or they were burned out . Told a ranger or someone that works there but not sure if it ever got done? Didn't know that about the rattlesnakes, yikes, I am terrified of snakes!! I didn't see any where I was camping but I guess that just means I was lucky. I did see a lot of holes though!
We love it here! It's been beautiful, cool mornings pretty hot this time of year but not until 2:30pm And they usually last till about 6:30 so it's not too bad. There's been a lot of beautiful wildlife some wild turkeys cottontails, lots of hawks and lizards even a raccoon can hear the coyotes at night and there's some tadpoles in the water near the rocks. We're enjoying a spot that has full hookups for our travel trailer, our children are enjoying the playground. the showers I've been really nice the water pressure and the temperature have been great. The current hosts have been exceptional and answering all of our questions and helping us to enjoy our time here. We originally only booked a couple of days but liked it so much when we got here that we extended our stay another 4 days. It will definitely be coming back again, hopefully we'll have an opportunity to check out the area in the winter time the hosts told us that it's gorgeous!
All I can say is that I cant believe how beautiful and relaxing these camping sites are. If your looking for clean and relaxing this is the place.Service: 5/5
Easily 5 stars for the campground. Spacious sites, quiet, very well maintained and an excellent staff of rangers. Two problems though: 1 Eastman Lake is almost gone. The drought has taken a tremendous toll on it. And 2 Rattlesnakes. There are A LOT of them! Beware!
Great place. Excellent Ranger staff. Volunteer park host was very resourceful, and helpful. The COE grounds were well maintained, lots were spacious, most sites seemed level. No two site were very close so lots of room between sites to spread out. I gave it four stars because the lake was so low. When we visited the Ranger said it was at 6% capacity. Would have been beautiful to see it full. Also, the road paved leading to the Campground was riddled with pot holes and half baked road repairs which made it a rough ride. Take your time...it's worth the trip. There was plenty to do otherwise. I highly recommend a visit to Codornjz
Very nice place to stay. Road getting here from 99 was rough and bumpy. Got better after we got past the orchards and farms. Very slow towing trailer but it is a great place to camp.
Nice and quiet. Always clean. Fun when you get a flock of turkeys walking by. My only wish is that they would have more full hook ups.
The road leaving chowchilla to the lake was absolutely terrible. There is a self ticketed credit card machine for entry. It costs 5$ and it’s good until 4pm the following day. It costs 20$ if you want to camp out here. There is a lot of restrooms with showers and hand soap. I was told this is a Bass trophy lake. I seen cattle, coyotes, foxes, crows, turkeys. The ranger said there is 3 bald eagles that reside here. The water level is really low and muddy.
Very nice campsites! Rangers are very responsive and respectful. Lovely views and lots of sites with hookups if needed.
As others have noted, this a secluded and very nice campground. The road Ave 26 out of Chowchilla is horribly potholed, so plan on going slow. At this time of year, we only counted about 8 other occupied sites. The host came and greeted us. There was no Verizon signal. The campground does have WiFi, but you need to be very close to the check in station. We were about 100 yards away and got a strong signal using our WiFi Ranger. We used our Golden Access pass to pay half the normal $30/night. If you need groceries or other supplies, get them in Chowchilla or Madera. There is essentially nothing in Raymond. We took a day to go to Yosemite Nat'l Park.
