Cohutta Wilderness
"The 37,000 acre Cohutta Wilderness contains 90 miles of hiking and backpacking trails, two of which follow the Jacks and Conasauga Rivers. Trailhead parking lots located around the wilderness perimeter provide foot access to the trails. Three Forks, Betty Gap, Chestnut Lead and Tearbritches Trailheads are open early March through December 31 each year due to winter road closures. The trails associated with these parking areas remain open, but must accessed from alternate trailheads. Some trails are open to horses. Hikers and backpackers should leave a detailed trip plan with someone expecting their return since cell service is unpredictable in this mountainous area."

Beautiful and empty. We hiked for two days and saw no one. Plenty of campsites. Panther creek trail was hard to find because of logs after the flood. Some sections were overgrown, but I liked that. Panther creek falls was worth the climb. Overall, it’s a hidden gem.
Great place to ride and view the wilderness. Roads are worn and could use some fill spots to accommodate more vehicles; however I’m in a Jeep and go for the off-roading experience.
Beautiful stretch of woods on the mountain. Trails range in difficulty so if you war traveling in the grocery getter it’s always better to make sure that you won’t have issues with terrain. All of the campsites and facilities were very clean!
One of my favorite places on earth. I'm afraid it won't be so magical in the too near future, though. I've seen a lot of stuff being developed way too close. Railway shipping, new neighborhoods and more warehouses. The area is losing its rustic rural isolated feel. Hurts the soul.
By far my favorite hiking trails. There are 2 rivers and plenty of tributary creeks on almost every hike. The area has it all from elevation to thick jungle wooded wet areas. I love it!
One of our go to get away in the mountains. Great dirt roads well maintain. Lots of clean water and most of the people you meet are nice and happy to be out in the woods.
Backpacked 4 days in December. Great place to go if you want solitude. Tons of creeks and small waterfalls.
It's gorgeous but some of the roads are pretty rough.
Very natural and beautiful place to visit and hike
This is a great park. It has nice and long trails, many rivers and a few waterfalls. Also you can swim in certain places. However, the first 11 miles we drove to reach the trail we hiked were not only unpaved, but also made me nauseous. It should better stay this way to keep it clean and sustainable, but this is just a warning.
