Tia Cooper Ridout, president and owner of Coldwell Banker Nelson Realtors Inc., has purchased the firm from Julie Nelson.

The company will still operate under the name Coldwell Banker Nelson Realtors Inc. in its current location at 215 Foothills Mall Drive, according to a company news release.

Twenty-five agents are affiliated with the firm, which closed $65 million in real estate sales in 2013.

Coldwell Banker Nelson Realtors Inc. has been the No. 1- or No. 2-producing real estate office in Blount County since 1993, according to the company statement, and it has been recognized by Coldwell Banker corporate as one of the top producing companies of its size in the country.

Its agents regularly are recognized for outstanding sales by Coldwell Banker International and the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors.

Cooper Ridout has consistently been a top-producing broker in Blount County real estate and has been an annual recipient of the KAAR Silver Award of Merit for outstanding production.

She has earned the Coldwell Banker International President’s Circle Award and been inducted into the Coldwell Banker International Diamond and Sterling Societies.

“I am happy to pass the torch to someone of Tia’s caliber,” Nelson said in the news release. “She is not only a very successful real estate agent and broker but an astute business person, having owned and run her own restaurant at the age of 19. It is a great feeling to have a person I have mentored and enjoyed working with for 17 years step up to continue the tradition and I know Tia is the right person to grow and lead the company. Her integrity and cooperative work ethic make her a natural for broker/owner of the company.

“Since the company opened in 1983, its goal has been superior customer service and a positive and comfortable work atmosphere for the agents,” Cooper Ridout said in the statement.

Absolutely do NOT let Barbara Carver represent you or buy from her if she’s representing the seller. She’s absolutely dishonest and super un ethical. Failed to disclose that there was a full barn that was buried on a piece of property we bought and the sellers who she is related to buried full propane tanks!! Illegal much? Absolute trash!
