It's a really nice trail, if you're on the Empire Trail. But the trails that go through the park are poorly marked. I mean, you can't get lost bc it's a little park but you can't stay on the trail either bc you can't find them. Even with the AllTrails app.
One of my favorite trails. Always well maintained and a beautiful view of the trees, also easily accessible with several different parking areas. Different parts of the park go over to the river with a playground, covered picnic areas and even a covered bridge to walk or drive thru. I walk here almost daily! Love it!
Pretty nice and safe place to take a walk or ride a bike, skateboard or roller skate. Pleasantly peaceful place to take children and pets. The only issue is that people should make sure to pick up after their pets after they poop!
From this parking area, you can travel to the East or West along side the Mohawk River. The trail is paved and wide enough for bikers, runners, and walkers to not get in each other's way. There is also a substantial anoint of mowed grass on both sides of the trail. Dogs are allowed, and everyone I saw abided by the leash law. There wasn't any garbage along the trail or in the parking area. It was nice to find another location to put my earbuds in and do some power walking to work off some stress!
Very beautiful. It is very clean and everyone is polite even the bike riders. The dog park is kinda sad looking. However, everything else is great! Dog-friendliness: Great for dogs! Nice and clean!
Beautiful and well-kept trails for walking or biking. Family friendly. I saw plenty of solo and groups.Recommended activitiesWalking, Hiking, Running, Biking, Dog Walking, Birdwatching
Parking lot is in rough shape. The bike path is nice. Did not feel safe walking my dogs in the park. Colonie Town Park allows extremely rude people without trail etiquette to walk dogs off leash and they refuse to put their dogs on leash even if you express discomfort/fear and explicitly request they leash or control their dogs. I wish there was enforcement of leash laws or at least decency e.g. put your dog on leash if another dog is on leash. They have a nice dog park. Not sure why people there are so inconsiderate. If your dog is off leash and you see an on leash dog in an on leash park, leash your dog. You don't know what that dog is working on or how backwards their progress may go by your "friendly" dog invading their space and ruining their walk.
Ride your mountain bike here and you will enjoy your time. Technical punchy climbs, rocky, rooty, great ny single track close to home.
There are several parking lots for this trail, always giving the user access to different sections of the trail for more varieties of experiences on the trail. Many sections of the trail have new pavement, and some new drainage work. Picture is from early/mid march 2021.
Great paved trail. Easy elevation changes. Single track is challenging and twisty.
