Just got back from my first trip after the new terminal was opened. The new terminal is beautiful, the workers were friendly and it's so convenient to fly out of Columbia. But holy moly it took an obscenely long amount of time to get the bags from the carousel. It is one flight with a small plane, it shouldn't take 45 minutes. The weird part was that once they started coming out, there would be a huge pause between each bag, like the person would put one bag on, take a couple minute break, then throw the next one on. The baggage pick up seemed to be much more efficient before the renovation, such a bummer because it tarnishes everything else about this nice facility. Hopefully they get a better process figured out.
Columbia Airport is a smaller business than those bigger ones. There are benefits of free parking for customers, don't worry about your vehicle. Cost less, many appreciate the services offered here. Very acomadading and friendly to work with during your planning of trips.
The airport is small and it’s quick to check in. Nice and clean including restrooms facilities are well maintained. There is Zero signal with T-Mobile when you’re at the airport. You can connect to their unsecured Wi-Fi and have data related apps work. You have 1 bar signal right outside. American Airlines representatives who work there seem the same all week every week and either understaffed or overwhelmed or overworked. They follow the rules strictly and they are not flexible with bags and times, they follow guidelines. Strict enforcement of the 45 minutes bags checking rule for luggage’s. Even when the airport has 10 people to board to a plane still they spend limited time to assist. Their answer is rebook and best of luck to your schedule. Columbia police is awesome good people last seen assisting even with bags when we arrived. TSA very good staff as well. For a regional airport in Mid Missouri they should have something better in place to represent and assist the travelers.
I fly out of COU all the time bc of its convenience. These last few times have been not a good experience with the American Airlines gate agent. I will not mention his name. He was extremely rude and dismissive to multiple people. I would like to bring attention to the fact that my friend was denied the opportunity to check his bag, despite the airport's evident ability to gate check bags. I understand you have to be there 45 minutes prior. The only proposed resolution provided by the American Airlines staff was to book him on a later flight. This inconsistent approach to handling baggage-related issues is both perplexing and frustrating, as it contradicts the airport's own practices.
Great new terminal, but due to Envoy staffing issues and tiny regional jets, you will very likely have to wait for your carry-on roller bag at baggage claim when you arrive. We landed 48 minutes ago at 12:28, and the belt just started. The plane we arrived on is the only plane at the terminal the incoming Chicago flight is delayed.
First time using this airport for the “convenience”. Check in good, bag check good. TSA, not friendly. No excuses for them. They signed up for it. Don’t like your job lady? Quit, surely no one will miss you.
Very small airport at the moment. The fate area was packed with customers. I had to almost wait near the TSA station. It seems they are building a new terminar which seems nicer than what is currently in use. Will say that when visiting Columbia, getting to this airport is more convenience that driving 2 hours from Kansas or St Louis. Hopefully the new terminar will solve many of the current issues.
Rudest workers I've ever met. Will not be going here again. Made us miss our flight because they wouldn't check our bag for being an hour early to our departure. American Airlines is going downhill fast.
How disgusting to charge $1200+ for a round trip when Saint Louis and Kansas City airports are charging $140-$200 for. It's literally cheaper to drive 2 hours away and pay for parking than it is to fly out of my own town. Your entire airport should be ashamed of itself with this price gouging.
Living in Columbia, it's a very convenient airport to fly in to and out of, so long as I'm flying on American Airlines so not always the cheapest nor most convenient. That said, this is a small airport with FREE parking, complimentary coffee, and relatively quick check in... While the new terminal is nice, it's not much of an improvement over the old one..
