The Columbia Heights Fire Department strives to maintain and improve the quality of life of all whom live, work, visit, or invest in our community.
To provide immediate response 24 hours a day, the City of Columbia Heights is served by a combination fire department, which consists of a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, six full-time professional firefighters, up to 30 "volunteer" or paid on-call firefighters and two part-time secretarial staff.
The Fire Department provides:
Fire suppression
Emergency medical services
Fire code inspections
Fire prevention and education
Hazardous materials response
In addition, the department licenses all rental property in the City and enforces the City’s Property Maintenance Code. The Fire Department also provides firefighting, emergency medical services, and fire code inspections to the City of Hilltop.

These services include fire prevention and education, fire and maintenance code enforcement, fire suppression and investigation, emergency medical services, and initial response to natural and man-made catastrophes.
