We are a psychosocial rehabilitation program. We serve individuals in Duplin, Sampson and Pender counties.
At the Common Ground Clubhouse, we work with individuals that have a mental health diagnosis. These individuals work side by side with their peers and staff to run the program themselves. They learn "life skills" through running the day to day operations of the program. There are currently three units that run daily. In the administration unit, individuals learn how to work on computers, answer phones and other important administration work. In the Snack Shack unit, individuals learn how to operate a cash register, maintain inventory, county and distribute money as well as shop for inventory. The last unit is the kitchen unit. Individuals that work in this unit develop a menu, shop for ingredients for menu and prepare daily meals for their peers and themselves. Through all these activities individuals learn how to maintain the symptoms of their diagnosis. They learn to live as independently as possible and cope with their mental health at the same time. We also provide social recreational outings three times a month. Two Saturdays a month and the last Monday of the month we go out into the community. These activities are researched and planned by the members themselves.
