It's a pretty good library the only issue for me is that I wish they had a little bit more control on the homeless people that act ignorant and go in the bathroom to do illegal substances sometimes but other than that it's a good library
I was at this library all day Saturday and I want to compliment how wonderful and resilient the staff is. From the time they opened there was a man who seemed to be confused and the lady at the desk went to the ask desk to translate. Eventually he thanked them and left. There was an older lady who was yelling at staff about tools. Staff went to get seemingly the manager and she explained to the lady that she would return them, but it would take longer because she was missing something. The older lady kept yelling and asked for her manager and she gave her a card. Then the older lady asked her for more help after she said she was going to complain about her and she still kindly helped her. After she left it was a quiet day minus all the kids in the kids area for songs and stories from the librarian who dresses fun until the evening when a homeless man came in and started taking his clothes off. They do have security and he went to get that man out. Someone was complaining to the fun dressing librarian and then someone else walked by that librarian and spat at her! He literally spat at her! These librarians go through so much and stay so nice to people. Yes there’s homeless outside and the city needs to do something about that. But the library and the librarians are so nice and helpful. They saw me trying to study and asked if I wanted a room when the kid songs and stories started.
Clean Everything there,...security as well and a diverse set of books! Across from McDonald's and at LA Superior court!
wonderful staff! always a clean environment, everyone is always helpful. great collection of books and I love how they are always having events and seminars for children and adults !!
I went to the library in early February. Unfortunately the link to the law library wasn’t working. Not the fault of the Compton staff. Yesterday they called me to let me know the law library is back online. That really impressed me! Thank you Compton librarians!!
My mom was harassed by the staff here when returning tools. She was not late, just lost the barcodes on accident, and they reprimanded her like she was a child. She’s a senior citizen and has severe health issues including an ongoing ulcer, which has since worsened due to the negligence and rudeness of this library’s staff. I will be taking this issue further up to the city for willful harm to a senior citizen and elder abuse. I hope the library can do better in the future. Sincerely disappointed that this kind of behavior is considered acceptable.
I love the Compton Library, ample parking has great staff, is very spacious, tons of computers, books, and awesome activities. I enjoyed the mini holiday sweater decorating event.
I’m standing in line trying to renew my library card. The librarian older black lady with salt and pepper hair insisted on having a personal conversation with the person in front of me. I was completely fine with it until it went on past a few minutes. I value peoples time, and that honestly was not the time nor place. You’re at work. Keep it professional.
Such a wonderful experience! As Black History comes to a close we decided to come to the library and check out a few culturally relevant books. Not only was there a flyer with recommendations on books that help build/boost the self esteem of Black children there was an extremely helpful lady at the front. We later found out her name is Krystal and she is the Library Manager. My 14 year old daughter expressed to Krystal the kinds of books we were looking for. Within minutes, Krystal found for us the absolute best selection of age appropriate books with beautiful brown skin children that mirror my kids' reflections. We all can't wait to dive into these stories! P.S. We've come here before for the children friendly activities led by Ms. Lowe. She is also amazing!
Had access to the study room, and they didn't time me like other libraries does. Friendly and professional atmosphere.
