Congregation Ahavas Achim

About

Congregation Ahavas Achim is an orthodox synagogue located in Highland Park, NJ.

Description

Congregation Ahavas Achim is an inclusive and diverse Kehila. Whatever your age, level of observance, whether you’re single or married, whether you are here for school or intend to remain with us longer, you are warmly welcomed into our Ahavas Achim family. We hope you will experience Ahavas Achim as your personal spiritual, social and learning community. Join us in our daily Shacharit and Mincha/Maariv Minyanim as well as our Shabbat morning minyanim. Throughout Shabbat morning, the upper classrooms resound with the voices of happy children absorbed in their own Shabbat experiences.

We also want you to experience our learning community firsthand. We have an inviting Beit Midrash which offers a comprehensive Hebrew and English Judaica library. We offer an array of adult education classes, lectures and Scholar-In-Residence programs under the auspices of Ahavas Achim University throughout the year.

As part of your social experience, we have active youth groups and NCSY for your children, a vibrant Sisterhood, a yearlong social program and even a softball team — something for everyone. Our Chesed Committee coordinates many opportunities to do chesed including shiva needs, assistance for families with newborns, and welcoming new families into town.

We welcome you to participate at whatever level you are comfortable. Whether you come for Shabbat services, join a Shiur, become active in our Sisterhood, or join any of our many active committees, you'll find we welcome new members and new ideas.

Please do not hesitate to call on us. We are eager to help in any way we can to make your transition to Highland Park as smooth as possible. We look forward to meeting and greeting you personally.

ACHDUS: Ahavas Achim strives to create a welcoming environment for every Jew. As a Torah-observant congregation, we respect and welcome Jews of every background

TORAH IM DEREKH ERETZ: Ahavas Achim stands committed to living a Halakhic life within the context of modernity - in our homes at work, among our neighbors and peers, in volunteer organizations, and in political life.

MEDINAT YISROEL: Ahavas Achim looks to Israel as the fulfillment of the Jewish people's destiny. We stand by Israel - the nation, the people, and the land - at all times.

AHAVAS ACHIM: Congregation Ahavas Achim pledges to live in every way according to the teachings of our Sages, of blessed memory. As a community, we commit ourselves to the service of G-d - to prayer, learning, charity, celebrations, and acts of loving-kindness.
