The Consciousness Club at the University of Washington, Bothell is a student-run club focused on empowering students with awareness about the implications of consciousness studies. Through student and faculty collaboration and facilitation, we hope to raise the discourse on the significance of how students define their nature, beliefs, and choices as individuals, members of their local community, and as inhabitants of the universe at large.
The mission of the Consciousness Club at the University of Washington is to raise questions and facilitate discussion about the larger issues surrounding the study of consciousness at the university level. It aims to take conversations outside of the classroom and to apply the knowledge and study to students' personal and professional lives. The Consciousness Club will be creating a medium for both community and action, to traverse the complex and controversial ideas emerging from the expanding field of consciousness studies into various conversations and projects at UW Bothell and the larger community, engaging with individuals in a way that brings together the continuum of generations. Topics include the nature of consciousness, the intersection of mind and matter, and ways of exploring levels of awareness that span disciplines, culture, and history. Consciousness Studies brings together a variety of disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, medicine, physics, biology, artificial intelligence, and contemplative and experiential traditions.
