Monica at the New Orleans Consulate of Mexico was very responsive to my emails requesting an appointment for Temporary Residency Visa application. She offered to answer my questions via email before the appointment. The New Orleans requirements are detailed and clear to follow so you know what to bring. This reassured me that I was prepared with the documents to meet their requirements and have one efficient appointment. When you arrive, Front door security confirms you have an appointment. Yesterday 12/29, the Consulate waiting area was quite full & they were very short staffed due to Southwest’s flight cancellations. Even so, the staff moved scores of patient people through very efficiently all day. Although she didn’t need to, Monica apologized for the long wait. I secured my visa pre-approval yesterday and Monica shared details on the next steps in Mexico to finalize my Visa. The exceptional staff made this a wonderful experience. My advice if you’re applying for a residency visa — Read and follow their instructions, take time to learn what Mexico requires of foreign applicants in different situations retired, working, or self-employed, bring patience & respect, allow plenty of time just in case, and you likely will have a positive experience. Foreigners cannot just “decide to move to Mexico.” Search Expats in Mexico Facebook group to see experiences others have had with the residency visa application process. The New Orleans Consulate office is across the street from great Hyatt Place where I stayed. The Consulate is ground floor street level with a big sign so easy in & out, parking available in Consulate building, friendly professional team, and great coffee next door.
Attempting to move to Mexico. Told I did not qualify for a temporary residency visa because I am a travel nurse and did not have a remote business to qualify. I had economic solvency but evidentally they frown upon this profession since I cant do it from Mexico. If you dont have a business that you can run from inside Mexico, they will deny you. It does not state it in the requirements sadly.
Good they were able to help regarding a situation with fam
This consulate rocks! From the security to the staff It was a very smooth process! If you are looking to do visas at any Mexican consulate than this is the one! Wish I would have went straight here! My flight got canceled for my original appointment at another consulate last month, and they treated me here very friendly. Thank y'all so much and much respect to Mexico
My wife and I applied for temporary residency visas. We were somewhat concerned about the process, but everything went smoothly. Monica was very helpful and answered all our questions. There was even convenient parking above the consulate.
Staff is very professional and courteous. Arrived early to the scheduled appointment but the staff is very efficient and attended us even before the appointment time. We literally left the establishment even before the time of our scheduled appointment.
In the past we have a bad experience with the Atlanta Georgia consul. New Orleans Mexican consul was an great experience with them today. Security staff very professional, the staff they're treating people the right way! I'll given 5 stars!!
This place was very nice. Through speaking with an employee, I could tell that the people there are supportive in helping the community with their specific needs. I understand the hardship some families go through when trying to do simple things in a country where they don't speak the native language. Bless all the individuals at the place for helping others!
Never answers gives wrongful info when the do answer arragant employees treat you like their doing you a favor put you on hold and then hang up on you I guess they need their siesta .. Estan para ayudar o para joder ??
Is hard to get an appointment, but once you have it people here are very nice and helpful. Is my fist time getting a document in USA not sure about other places but New Orleans is definitely better than the ones I have been in Mexico.
