I am a professional organizer and have brought this location HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars in business. I will never make that mistake again. Out of the year and a half I have been shopping here there is only ONE employee here that is knowledgeable, and helpful. A young girl with brown hair. I had a very unprofessional interaction with the manager. I came in for a return 30 minutes before closing, and because the employees are not trained or knowledgeable, it took three different people to help me with my return. I have made returns here dozens of times and have never had an issue. I totally understand that I came in close to closing, I’ve worked retail and I know it is annoying. However, I told them I’d be happy to come back tomorrow. I offered twice. The manager who ultimately dealt with my return was hostile, impatient, and passive aggressive. I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time. I have always loved container store and always come here first when shopping for clients and myself but I will not make the mistake again. Do better.
Container store “moderates” and censors it’s online reviews of products so I decide to post my honest review of the products and customer service here for all to see. I tried unsuccessfully FOUR times to review the Elfa White Elfa Kids' Mesh Coloring Table with Rounded Corners, and container store keeps rejecting my reviews as “not in line with their values” and “focused on a shipping issue.” They don’t allow any constructive feedback. So here’s my review-hope it helps some consumers- White Elfa Kids' Mesh Coloring Table with Rounded Corners. First thing you’ll notice about this table is it’s almost perfect reviews. Don’t fall for it!!! Again the container store moderates and screens out any negative feedback about their products. My unit was mailed damaged and when I called container store to have it repacked they said it would take three months as it was back ordered. I still haven’t received my replacement yet I paid for the $350 desk over four months ago. The table itself is also dangerous for a toddler due to its weight and lack of stability. The tabletop is extremely heavy and could crush a small baby or toddler. My son has slide it off the base and crush his fingers. I have reported the product to consumer reports as a safety hazard.
I’d like to give this corporation zero stars due to their lack of ADA compliance and their ignorance on the CA Governor’s social distancing guidelines. While entering with a face shield, in Sacramento, a disabled family member was turned away and told they were not welcome to shop at the Container Store. The employee was belligerent in their communication style and totally lacked professionalism. It is clear that disabled Americans are not welcome and will be humiliated, if they attempt to patronize this business. Personally, I would never give this company another dollar and ideally I’d like to return anything purchased in the past. I would also encourage all others to economically contribute to a business without a clear lack of respect for the well-being of others.
I love the merchandise sold there but I will NEVER shop at The Container Store again. I’ve had two incidents at the store on Research Blvd. in Austin Texas that left me sobbing in the store last night. I am new to Austin and have four houses that all could use merchandise from this store including closet reorganization. Two days ago I shopped there and went to check out. The woman at the register asked my phone number three times and couldn’t understand me because of my mask. I went to readjust the maskit’s double layered and the inside layer gets in your mouth when the woman yelled, “DON’T take off your mask ma’am!” I explained why I touched it and she said, “What ever, I know we don’t like wearing them but it’s not time to take them off yet.” I explained that I have an autoimmune disorder and have been wearing masks even before Covid. She rudely said, “Well, there are others out there with immune disorders it’s not just you!” Thinking she also had an immune disorder, I told her that she shouldn’t be out in public if she did and again she rudely said, “Well someone has to pay the bills!”. Yesterday, a different checkout woman ordered me to “Get behind the white line!”. There were five people checking out at closing and I was the last in line. We were all about 6 feet apart or more and had all gone in front of the white line, again as it was closing time. When the woman in front of me went to the counter, the clerk asked if I was with her and when I said no, she rudely said, “Well then, get back over there behind that white line!”. At that point I was the only customer in the store. When I was checking out, a woman who was let in the store after closing came up behind me. I asked the clerk why didn’t she tell the lady to get behind the white line. She sighed and apologetically told her, and much nicer, to “step behind the white line.” The clerk began arguing with me and I began to cry because this was the second time I’ve come here and have been treated rudely like a child who has broken in the lunch line. There is no excuse to be rude to anyone even if they are scared of the pandemic. I know how to use social distancing precautions and personal protective equipment. I believe these two women were trying to use what little power they have been given to intimidate a person who they thought was an easy target. I will NEVER shop in this store again and I will be telling others about my bad experiences. Again, there is no excuse for being rude.
Worst shopping experience. Their on line information for a product is just wrong. In trying to rectify the situation, their chat did not work, their store # diconnected me, and their corporate # is also on the fritz. Not a good experience at all.
Terrible customer service. After waiting 4 weeks from order placement, I have attempted to cancel order. Unable to reach anyone & the online application does not have the ability to cancel. I called the customer service # their online web site refers to. Upon calling and listening to the recording their phone just hangs up. I feel I should be able to cancel online. Amazon is so much better in this trying time.
It's a bad place to work everybody likes to blame other people for their mistakes too much favoritism going around. I wouldn't recommend anyone to work there. The upper management team they act like big kids. In other words you have to be liked to make it there not your job performance. What a waste of time I wouldn't bother even apply there.
Came into store and was told by a man that I couldn’t shop there due to the fact I have a medical condition and can not wear a mask. I was told I need to shop online. Do you tell others with disabilities they need to shop online? Or our service dogs need to wear mask? #Stand up
Overly DISAPPOINTED!! Ordered the White Elfa Kids' Mesh Coloring Table with Rounded Corners 2 months ago, was never told that this was going to be shipped by pieces. 7 shipments later, 2 more on waitlist and one out of stock I now have to drive 140 miles round trip to orlando to find a replacement part.....
I had an online Container Store designer design a shelving system for my office. I was given a sale price- I ordered right away. The price I was actually charged was double the estimate given. Container Store will not refund. Have waited 3 months for orders in the past. Customer service for online purchasing is terrible.
