THEIVES!! THEY STEAL FROM YOUR LOVED ONES. Be warned, please. I had been out of state when my grandma passed away, and when I returned I asked the funeral director if they had her belongings; Tim's response was "only her diamond heart pendant necklace and two wedding bands." The diamond heart pendant was the last gift my mom gave to my grandmother before my mom passed away, and my grandmother wore her mom's wedding band as well as her own, so it was a family heirloom. My grandmother put the diamond necklace on the day of my mom's funeral, and in 20 years she NEVER took it off - not to shower, not to garden in the backyard. So I asked Tim to give her jewelry to me, but he said it was buried with her. After many attempts to retrieve it, Susan finally called me to admit that my gram's jewelry was NOT buried with her, and that she would mail it to me - but she did NOT mail me the diamond heart or the two bands, only a gold chain necklace. So Tim told me what my gram was wearing, but they KEPT IT. I am absolutely heartbroken, because it was so special to my gram and was something my mom bought. I attached a photo of the necklace to this review, so if you are in the Torrington area and see this at a pawn shop or someone selling it, PLEASE PLEASE let me know. Thank you.
Tim Cook is a treasure to the Litchfield County Community. He and his staff go above and beyond in their professionalism, compassion, empathy, kindness and service. We lost my mother-in-law somewhat suddenly, even though she had been ill for a very long time. Tim took time to sincerely express his condolences. Her wake and funeral services were held at Cooks, with a procession to St. Francis Cemetery. The staff was outstanding. This type of service starts at the top, and has been truly appreciated by my family.
I recently attended a wake and funeral there. I understand that covid has been stressful for all, but I felt the staff was rude to those waiting to get into the wake. Also, I purchased flowers through their website, paying over $160. The display pictured wasn't even close to the flowers delivered. I would love to post pictures of the order vs the product. My suggestion, don't ever use their website to order flowers.
I went to Cook funeral home on the saddest day of my life, to bury my lifelong friend and husband . I was greeted by Tim Cook and from that moment on I felt my tensions relaxing. He was exceptional-very very knowledgeable and understanding . He took care of so many, many details ex: church times, organist, flowers, VA contacts, death certificates and the list goes onso that I did not have to think/ worry about them. Sue was in contact via phone/text to answer our children’s concerns-any time! If I could give more than five stars, I would. Their entire team through out the entire wake and funeral process was a shining example of what professionalism, respect and caring is all about.Thank you one and all.
I highly recommend choosing Cooks Funeral Home. Susan and Tim Cook always go above and beyond in helping you through this delicate process. Their professionalism and dedication to making this experience not be difficult is amazing. The funeral home itself is breathtaking and really shows how much care they put into their business and your loved ones when they pass.
I strongly recommend using another funeral home, very expensive for what little services we needed done, engraving options on the Urn were not even offered. It seemed like we received less attention because we were not spending $10,000 on services. They were pleasant but not very knowledgeable to us. We are definitely unhappy with their services.
My grandfather passed recently and I was very pleased with the service our family received. The facilities were pristine and nicely decorated. We had an issue with a date on the cover for the grave and they fixed it promptly and sent us a picture noting the change. This was a very difficult time for all of us and they were extremely accommodating and professional. Heartfelt thanks to the Cook family...
