Update June 2023: Still waiting for updates from Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Now going on almost a year since my payment was collected by the funeral home for a permanent memorial. Still nothing. Jan 2023: My experience with Cook-Walden was fair until it came time for a burial marker. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Our order of $7,000+ was placed last summer July. As we head into a new year, we have nothing to show for it, no memorial bench, and no date in mind in the future. To add insult to injury, we received a call from Cook Walden in December asking if we were planning to place an order soon. Clearly, the sale is what matters most— not the fact that families are waiting months with no communication whatsoever. The lack of communication about marker order/installation dates is unacceptable after the funeral. We are very reasonable people and understand the concept of lead times, but Cook-Walden should work harder to communicate with families after they have processed their credit card details and cashed their checks. Once your money is sent, there is nothing but silence unless YOU follow up on your own. Otherwise your loved one is left to fade into a memory with no marker to remember them by. It is painful. If this were any other order, I would have asked for a refund. But Cook Walden knows you're captive and their post-burial customer service reflects this philosophy. In this particular business, you would think they would go out of their way to ensure the family understands the process and expected install times- but unfortunately, once your family member is under ground and your check has been cashed, Cook cannot be bothered. Very disappointing and hurtful to say the least. The funeral itself was well done, but the post-burial silence has tarnished this experience and remembrance for our family.
Brian Mateus-Ramirez was absolutely wonderful to work with. I cannot say enough good things about him - in a very difficult time, his professionalism, caring, attentiveness and commitment were so appreciated.
Our director megan was the best i cant say enough about the way she handled everything answered all my kids and grand childrens questions she was like a member of the family and i want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my family at a time when we really needed her a real professional thank you Megan
From the moment I talked to them they were very helpful. Me and my sisters had to plan our cousins funeral. Brian the funeral director was so helpful to me and my sisters. He want over everything with us and explained in detail what we were getting. He called me to get my opinion on everything he wanted to make sure we were happy and we were happy. I called him a lot and he never turned me away. Everyone was so nice and very considerate of me and my families needs. Brian and the the rest of the staff at Cook Walden on N. Lamar will always have a special place in our hearts. Her funeral turned out beautiful I have Brian and the staff to think for that. I also thought it was so nice of them to wear my cousins favorite color at the funeral to match the family's attire. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to help us in our time of need.
I had to make a last-minute change for a funeral arrangements when my father passed in April. Trey and his staff were wonderful to work with. I couldn’t have been more pleased with how everything went. They were so helpful in a quick turnaround to accommodate my family. Mike G was especially helpful after the service. He was very compassionate and spent time reviewing resources with me. He also Helped me to manage my busy schedule by bringing my father’s remains and death certificates out to me. Highly recommend Cook Walden North Lamar.
Cook Walden North Lamar did a superb job for my Dad's service and burial. Marty and his staff took care of every detail and made the experience so much easier for me. I highly recommend Cook Walden North Lamar.
We experienced such care and attention to detail from this funeral team. Each area listened, advised and executed a beautiful visitation and graveside service. Their caskey flowers were SIMPLY AMAZING! We highly recommend Dignity Memorial for your funeral needs.
Nathaniel is more than a funeral director; he's a comforting voice and a guiding hand when they are needed most. His approach was not that of a business transaction, but of a human connection. With care and consideration, he sought to know our family and understand our wishes for saying goodbye to our beloved. He then took full ownership of the final arrangements, which allowed us to grieve the loss of our loved one. Nathaniel, I don't know if you'll see this. But if you do: you are a compassionate counselor, and you are appreciated. Thank you.
Cook-Walden Funeral was more than I could ask for. The Director, Meagan was the most pleasant, polite, conscientious and knowledgeable young lady I had the pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Cook-Walden to anyone in need of funeral arrangements. The entire staff, specifically Meagan and Alicia were fantastic. Coming from out of state and never preparing for a funeral could have been a disaster. However, those young ladies and the staff at Cook-Walden made the whole process painless. I am very grateful that my mom chose to use them for her going on services. Thank you Cook-Walden.
The staff at Cook Walden Funeral home helped makes the planning of my sons funeral stress free as possible. Nathaniel was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and was extremely patient with our grieving process. We looked at 4 other places and Cook Walden offered everything we were asking for and helped us stay within our financial plans.
