First time to this library and it was really nice. They are rearranging books in the children's section, so if you cannot find a book, the librarian was very helpful in finding the books for us. She also gave some recommendations on other books. We didn't wander through the whole library as we got some tracked by the giant connect four game in the children's section. My son and I played about 4 games. They also have train tracks and some preschool games. It's a nice size children's section and we will definitely be returning.
I'm from out of state, and I stopped by today to do some much needed online business. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Not much traffic while I was there. The place was a great sanctuary to get caught up. Wifi works great. Not password protected. Very clean and most of the patrons and all of the staff are still wearing mask.
It was a wonderful and amazing experience. It has plenty of free used books too.
I love this library. They have summer activities and events during the summer that I have been able to enjoy with my toddler. It was my first to go place when moving to Coos Bay. They have open ended toys in the kids area. I love their theme boxes and back packs for children available for check out. The staff is great. We also love story time with Jennifer throughout the year. They provide activities free for children, teens and adults, even yoga for free. Today we went to the Marine Life Center for free as part of their summer activities. They even have Adult backpacks to explore Oregon tide pools, forest, and so forth.
The staff were kind and courteous, the bathrooms were super clean. The Wi-Fi was also pretty fast and has no password
This library has a really nice selection of books. If they do not have the book they are usually very nice about trying to assist you in getting the book. My only compliant is their limited hours of operation which equates to being open only part time. They are only open four to six hours during the work week and only three hours on one of the weekend days. The North Bend library has similar limited hours open to serve the public. This is most unfortunate because the communities taxes support the operations of this facility and the limited hours do not offer much back to the community members. Families work during the week and the only real time to use the facility during the weekends the library is only open three hours on Saturday. Most county libraries else were are open eight hours Monday through Friday and five hours on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend is the time the library should be open and offering community outreach programs to help the community members connect and grow with one another through educational support programs. Their website indicates they want the community to support their upcoming bond measure to build a new library. This will increase the community member's taxes by several hundred dollars. Their serve support hours back to the community would have to increase to show their money would be worth this huge increase in everyone's taxes.
The security guard walked to the parking lot as I was leaving & then stood watching my vehicle until.i left. Is that harassment ? Was he also surveilling my car to see if i had an out of state license plate ? Seemed so. My state DOESN'T do that to visitors from Oregon.
Very nice Library, friendly staff and helpful!! Spent an hour preparing for a meeting in comfortable and quiet facility
They won’t let me sleep outside at night. They wouldn’t even have a library if I didn’t invent it, but they took my home, my private books for my exclusive knowledge that I did invent, and stole the land it is in. The only reason the library has the word public in it is so the beasts that live off of me won’t destroy it if they don’t know, but what good is it to have a library when you can be told to leave by an intruder who has pigs in his side. It is enough to make a true hod dispose of it.
Very good alot of room not alot of people I was in and out less than 20 minutes
