CSL's mission is to offer homeless members of the community access to clean, safe showers and laundry services, providing those in need with a fresh start.
Have you ever gone without showering for more than a couple days? Imagine weeks and months at a time without that luxury. Imagine not having a safe place in which to wash up in or not having a clean change of clothes. In January 2015, a diverse group of Metro Detroiters came together to found Corner Laundry and Shower Service (CLASS) – a venue in which the mostly homeless guests of Manna Community Meal soup kitchen (housed within St Peter’s Episcopal Church) can have that safe place, and their dignity, as they shower and do laundry.
The core council of CLASS is comprised a diverse group of caring citizens. We are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Unitarian, atheist, urbanites, suburbanites, students, teachers, retailers, consultants, and more. We come together with the compelling vision of doing good and repairing the world. We welcome all to share their talents and compassion as we address the needs of the most vulnerable.
To offer the homeless members of Corktown community access to clean and safe showers and laundry services, providing those in need with a means to a fresh start.
