My husband and I just got home from eating at Cotton Patch Cafe in Abilene- We started w the chicken fried bacon- unreal- ridiculously delicious- my husband had the most tender chicken fried steak I have ever seen w delicious mashed potatoes and well seasoned black-eye peas. He ordered a side salad that was much larger than expected. I ordered chicken and dumplings that taste better than my own, but what surprised us was the funnel cake fries, it was one of my sides, but became our dessert, I never could eat my other side and hardly any of the dumplings after eating their fresh rolls, so needless to say we brought food home. Our serves was a very pleasant young lady that is good at her job and evidently enjoyed it- Hats off to Cotton Patch Cafe! Parking: Nice to have parking so close to the door, at our age 60’s
Cotton Patch should be a safe go to for "home cooked" like food. right? Instead what I got was fried fish on steroids minus the fish. The poor waitress was agast when I showed her the amount of breading thar was on the meager amount of fish I picked out. These pictures show only the breading after I picked out the fish. It wasn't even good breading. I still feel like gagging. At least my salad and broccoli were good. The waitress was excellent. Abilene Texas, Clack location.
I got all my food which was good the Dr. Pepper cake not so much but the bacon and quesadilla the burger everything else was good I will eat here againFood: 4/5
I ordered a burger with no bun because I have to eat gluten free. I was hoping that the burger would be decent because every time I order chicken, it is super dry. This burger was disgusting…thin, chewy and of course, dry. I ordered the baked squash and the flavor was awful. It tasted like sugar and onions were added to the quash which is a gross combination. Needless to say, $10 later and I’m still very hungry.
The food was amazing. The prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was family-friendly and clean. The server did get my order wrong, but she was brand new, and we are all human. She apologized, and they fixed it and brought the right order in a timely manner.Food: 5/5
Will return for the service. The young man Clyde,TX serving was exceptional with all his customers. I ordered chicken fried steak, okras, and mashed potatoes. All were very good. The cost was good as well.Food: 5/5
We went on Veteran’s Day 2022 and it was extremely busy. The staff was working their tails off, doing any excellent job of seating and serving the customers quickly and efficiently. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. The table they set up to honor our veterans was beautiful and a very considerate and respectful gesture.
I hate doing this, but our last order was ridiculous. We DoorDashed two 6 Oz sirloins and I got mashed potatoes. We also got a small order of fried green tomatoes for $7.70. The steaks were alright, but we got FOUR slices of tomatoes for $7.70! On top of that, I tried to take a bite of my mashed potatoes and the whole scoop came out of the box on my fork. I almost needed a knife to cut them. Sorry, but this is unacceptable.
We have been going back to Cotton Patch for years. Always enjoyed the food and service. But it seems strange that for the past 6 months their coffee maker has been “broken. Awesome comfort food and friendly staff. I had the Brisket Queso and the Chicken Fried Steak. The Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce that comes with the queso is sweet, but pairs well with the spicy queso flavor. The Chicken Fried Steak was almost the size as the plate and was tender with good flavor.
