Cottonwood Mall

Description

Cottonwood Mall is a shopping mall located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. The mall is anchored by Dillard's, JCPenney and Sears (formerly Montgomery Ward). The mall is the second largest mall in the state of New Mexico (after Coronado Center) with a gross leasable area of 1041680sqft.; it features over 130 stores, as well as a food court and Regal Cinemas (formerly United Artists) Theater. Cottonwood Mall is managed by WP Glimcher. In May 2014, as part of Simon Property Group's spinoff of smaller malls, ownership of the mall was transferred to Simon spinoff Washington Prime Group, although Simon was retained as the mall's manager until early 2016. Washington Prime would later become WP Glimcher, and take over management of the mall.HistoryCottonwood Mall was built on part of an 89,000 acre parcel of land given by King Philip IV of Spain in 1710 to Francisco Montes Vigil, who later sold the land, which included only some farmland along the Rio Grande, to Captain Juan Gonzales of the Spanish Army. The land grant is known as the "Alameda Land Grant" (alameda means "cottonwood grove" in Spanish). In 1929, 20,500 acres were purchased by Albert F. Black who established the Seven Bar Ranch. The Black family built an adobe home and in 1947 a small airport which was known as the Seven Bar Airport, and later the Alameda Airport. Surrounded by growing urban areas, the Black family sold off much of the remaining ranch for the development of new residential subdivisions. The Alameda Airport remained in operation until 1986, when it was closed to make way for 1983 plans for the 95 acre mall project.

"Cottonwood Mall is Albuquerque's premier shopping destination. The town center is home to more than 130 national and local retail, dining and entertainment options, as well as numerous events and activities throughout the year. A dynamic offering of things to do along with things to buy keeps guests engaged and returning often. Cottonwood Mall is open seven days a week; Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m."

We went to the Paranormal Circus! It was pretty awesome!! There were a lot of talented acts, great vibes! Really awesome experience. There could have been more acts like the pictures showed on the website, the skits were a little corny with cheap costumes. But overall they did a great job!!
My girlfriend and I went to the food court for New Year’s Eve eating. We got a lemonade from hot dog on a stick, fries from potato corner, AND a Philly Cheese Steak from Phillys! Love this place though like really. Go to the food court now!! Eat now !! : :
Beautiful mall, and full of great stores to check out. The food options aren’t the greatest more for snacking, but there are plenty of local places in the area for dining. The mall was clean, and the staff we interacted with were friendly! Overall a nice mall to get things you need. Usually super busy over the weekends, and slower during the week. Parking is plentiful.
Nice 2 story mall. I got a Boba Fett car from 1 of the store, a plague doctor's from another and had my screen fixed by Carlos in Luna Accessories. He was prompt and polite. Then I had dinner at BJ's. Off to Dallas after grub
This is my favorite mall to visit now. This is a good mall for tourists to visit I’m my opinion because it has a lot more southwestern style art and feel to it. It’s just decorated so much better than Coronado. I really wish more places would decorate the New Mexico style so they could stand out more. Don’t use the claw machines here though you really can’t win much. Or at any mall here. Cottonwood has some fun things going on more people should go.
Beautiful artistry inside the mall. Hot air balloon and clear glass elevator make it enjoyable. The ceiling in the food court is one of a kind and worth taking out of town guests too. I'm sad they got rid of the kids play area and put in a bull-riding machine instead. Still has a few good stores although some of them are random ones that sell junk made in China.
There are less and less big stores here each time I visit, but it is starting to have a lot of entertainment. There is a movie theater, mini golf, arcades and so much more. There are even free options like blocks for the kids to play with in the middle open area. My kids especially love the carousel. There are a lot of smaller stores with specialty items that are fun to see as well.
Cool mall. Very New Mexico. Lots of New Mexico stores in here as well as your favorite traditional mall stores. Don't miss the cool parts! The hot air balloon, the city on the ceiling of on of the food courts, bull riding, merry-go-round, art in different places. This mall is two stories and has plenty of stores for whatever you need, as well as plenty of unique ones!
Always has a lot of shops to go to. So much fun to go with friends. Sometimes it's nice to get out and about and just buy from whatever store you're at at cottonwood Mall always go with my buddies and we always seem to buy something from there, either food or something that we find cool and looks nice. Highly recommend to go again!
I am from San Diego, and was surprised with this shopping mall, it's better than most of the ones we have here. Dillard's has very good quality clothing, not cheap, one season tee shirts and shorts. This is one one the best shopping complexes I've seen put together. It has all major stores.
