If you're looking for a beautiful, serene place to hike, explore, even just relax, this is a must. It's so beautiful, the trail is clean, the creek is beautiful-- we loved it!
Beautiful trail. We'll maintained. Several parking spaces along the route between Sycamore and St Charles. Love it.
Great forest preserve with plenty of trails for hiking. Also has a nature center with a huge fish tank simulating a river
I have ridden this trail for over 40 years now the shade has grown in nicely.
A most exquisite trail, been running there for years. Could use a few more turns though, not too many of those.
This is a great trail to bike. From the start to 47 or virgil is a nice little ride. Path is mostly packed limestone so it's a fairly easy ride and its shaded in alot of parts. Beautiful sights, you definitely get a nice taste of the prairie
This is one of my go to spots to clear my head …clean and well maintained
The Great Western Trail is my favorite running trail in the area! It’s flat and scenic. There are always other people on the trial, but not an overwhelming amount like you might encounter on the Fox River Trail. The path is well maintained and great for running, walking, or biking. There are no water fountains on this trail so bring your own water. The trail goes all the way from St. Charles to Sycamore.
A great bike ride with very few roads to cross. Trail is fine gravel and some paved. Down and back was about 33 miles. Definitely a great workout if you have a few hours and the rural and wooded scenery adds to the experience.
The Great western bike trail goes about 20 miles to the west and connects with nearby forest preserve which continues north and east for many miles, almost to Wisconsin. You can get a Kane County trail map. You can bike, walk or picnic nearby. An all around great area to relax and unwind.
