Signed up for puppy swim 101 with our doberman that is 10 months old and weighs 112 lbs. We did not see anything on their site stating we could not enter their property with an e collar or pinch collar. So we paid for the class, drove an hour to the lesson only to be turned away. No refund of course! We have spent time on training our pup to not pull on her lead but she is not able to heel when faced with so much excitement and other puppies so near. She has zero aggressive behaviors and gets along well with all sizes and breeds. I ask if I could let her off leash because trying to hold onto a dog her size is like riding a wild bull. I was told that wasn't allowed even tho the entire area is fenced. That aside I want to share that the swim lesson consists of you dragging your pup up deck stairs leading to the pool and down a ramp into an above ground pool. You will somehow get into the water ahead of your pup and coax them into the pool with you all the while on their leash. Now that might work if your pup is like 20 pounds and willing. Waste of time and money for our purposes. This is not a training center for people with large breed dogs.
We had a great experience with a private swimming class on campus. Joe made it a fun experience, and everything was set up to support our girl to have fun. We can't wait to go back for a lure course.
Courteous Canine is phenomenal! We recently finished our puppy kindergarten course and it was so impactful and positive for our puppy mini golden doodle. Our course instructor Chris was fantastic! He has incredible patience, super informative and is just amazing with everyone’s pups! We will continue to come back to Courteous Canine for more courses. Highly recommended!!!
Our Puppy Meg completed a week of Courteous Canine's Board and Train program recently with Kim Archer. We are so impressed and delighted with the training and the results. Meg was brought into Labrador Rescue's foster system at 4 weeks of age, and we were fostering her, then adopted her. She had been separated from her mother and litter and had not learned any behavior control from her mother. We had some real challenges with aggressiveness and biting. Great experience! Puppy class with Beth was helpful. My Labrador will walk on the leash and knows all her commands. We still need to work on things every day at home to keep the skills fresh but the training was definitely worth the time and money. Beth, the trainer was really great!
Ginger is doing so well with her puppy training with Christy and she love her day at daycare! Ginger is such a sweet puppy and with her involvement with Courteous Canine she will be a joy to have as our baby for many years to come!
I've been working with Christy Parker at Courteous Canine on my dog's anxiety and fear issues for a few sessions. We clicked immediately over her training techniques and she really walked me through every aspect of the process. She talked me through her thinking process and we worked together to identify triggers, best solutions, and adjustments to our lifestyle to set us both up for success. Her positive, fear-free methods work very well for me and my dog, Zelda. So thankful for her patient and kind demeanor!
