I used to stay at Courtyard Hotels a lot when I was working. This is my first stay in a number of years. This Courtyard has a good location just outside of Kalamazoo. The hotel presents a good image, but there are some issues that could use some maintenance. Our room had a toilet that was cracked, and the sink drained slowly. The hotel has two elevators, but one was not working. The public men's restroom had a urinal that didn't work, and a number of chairs in the dining area really need to be cleaned. We still had a good stay. Ryan at the front desk was great.
I reserved a room with a king size bed but was given a room with 2 queens. Not a big deal. I thought all rooms came with a microwave. Not mine? The bed was very comfortable and Gary, the front desk clerk was awesome but the hot tub was freezing cold? Needs to be fixed. It wasn't worth the price I paid for all these issues. I won't return to this location. Nearby activities: Family close by.
Stayed here for a couple of nights while in town for my cousin's wedding. Garrett, Ryan, and Torey were all very friendly, accommodating, and helped us with any needs we had during our stay. Rooms overall were very modern and clean. Beds were a little firmer than I used to but still comfortable. The thermostat would either be quite warm or quite cold but worked well. No problems with the coffee maker, tv, mini fridge, bathroom, etc. The included hotel shampoo and conditioner and body wash were appreciated! While the pool needs a resealing, it is heated and was still very comfortable. The jacuzzi was out of service but still kept heated, which made for a relaxing dip. The lobby Market Bistro in the hotel made for a great grab and go offering, though expect of course to pay hotel prices $10 for a big, thick Turkey Sandwich. No problems at all with any other guests or issues at all. Overall, a very welcoming stay especially if you've been driving a long time and just need somewhere to rest.
Terrible hotel. Travel for business trip. Rooms are very outdated not like photos. Every time i wanted to go into my room key was not working so i would have to go up and down constantly to get it reactivated. Hotel had plumbing issue and they had to move my room in the middle of the day. Then halfway during stay hotel lost power and we had to find another place to stay. They are refusing to give us a refund and management will not answer any calls. Stay away. Photo is from pitch black darkness i had to try go up 4 flights of stairs at 10 pm to gather my stuff and leave. The manager Whitney now claims we did not check out and is refusing to give us a refund. Very Shady!!
On entering, our room had a strange smell… We decided to go out to dinner and decide what to do about it when we got back. On our return, it seemed like it was coming from the A/C unit, so I called the front desk to let them know. First off: the front desk team was stellar. It’s a pretty quiet location, not busy when we were visiting. We were in a new room within minutes of letting them know there was an issue in the first one. Nothing but love. It felt like the housekeeping could be a little better. The bathrooms were smudgy and streaky, and there were some pretty major bleach stains on the loveseat. The bar soap included in the bathrooms was very dry and sticky
This hotel was horrible. The pool was so cold, my two year old couldn’t swim longer than 7 minutes. This was the main reason we chose the hotel - it had a pool. The hotel was dirty and in disarray. I complained to the staff when I noticed soiled underwear in the lobby. They apparently knew about it when they said, “we know”. Those same pair of underwear then found themselves in front of our hotel room door. The hotel room was dark and did not have enough light. Nothing in that room was comfortable. Upon checking out, I expressed our issues with our stay. The clerk didn’t even seem to care. I attempted to reach out to the hotel supervisor. Still nothing. If you stay anywhere, make it not this place. It’s an overpriced one star hotel at best. Very disappointed in Marriott. And very disappointed in the folks who run this place.
Extremely Loud!!!!! If your room is facing the highway, please have your room changed. If not, you’ll be hearing the semi trucks from the highway all night long. I tried to change my room and they declined to do so. So I checked out early and was charged for an additional night anyway the manager wouldn’t waive the early cancellation fee. To top it off, the room lacked USB charging outlets so don’t forget your AC adapter. Stay downtown and avoid the hassle. Hilton Garden Inn is a better option.
Let us check in early. Both rooms were set up pretty well & clean. Hot tub wasn't available. The pool needs recoated but was warm so stayed in longer. Breakfast is available but not included. We had a problem with the "neighbors" above us so the front desk found us a new room. 2nd room was same layout but because of where the ac/heater was located it blew into the TV/furniture area rather than around the room. The vents weren't movable so there was no way to change the direction of air flow. No microwave in room so had to go by the front desk. I liked the liked the coffee/tea nook.
The pool was warm the hot tub was Cold.. I really feel it was a waste of my money. The employees are all extremely nice so that was the positive in our visit..Rooms: 3/5
It was so relaxing to just be able to pull off the interstate after a long day of driving to find friendly staff Dorothy and Ryan. The room is clean and confortable. The pool was my second stop and just the ticket to close out a long day.Rooms: 5/5
